The Ultimate Wine Playground … come play!

Nebbiolo from Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
$285
From two of great producers of Baroli, Massolino, &, A & G Fantino, across 3 vintages and 2 sub-regions of Barolo. They represent vineyards and craftsmen that produce stunning wines that are sophisticated and a little more approachable than some Baroli from vineyards that produce more structure, tannic wines. While they are soft, supple and elegant, they still have a harmony and mouthfeel that is unmistakably Nebbiolo. All are different, have a beautiful perfume, all make me happy!

?? A&G Fantino, Cascina Dardi Riserva Barolo 2006 – The 2006 is starting to open beautifully, from a warmer year, it is expressive and rich. The secondary aromas and flavours that develop with age are expressing themselves, the earthiness, truffles, a tantilising perfume.
?? A&G Fantino, Cascina Dardi Riserva Barolo 2008 – The 2008 is tighter than the 2006 at the moment. From a cooler year, there is a hidden density, right now, it’s brooding, waiting to explode! Wait a couple more years and you’ll be happy. Equally wait 10 and you’ll be elated!
?? Massolino Barolo 2012 – Fine and classic with lovely flesh, great finesse and excellent freshness and purity. Showcasing the finesse of Serralunga.

Pinot Noir from Aloxe-Corton, Côte du Beaune
Lush red cherries & raspberry preserve aromas, dried orange peel, menthol. Medium-bodied with ripe red berry fruit and cracked black pepper, saline with impressive depth & structure on the finish. This is our second allocation of this wine, which hails from a 0.26 hectare parcel of this powerful terroir. The vines here are on the younger side, but low yields of less than 25 hl/ha and Ponsot’s typically late picking offset the relative youth of the vines. It’s a deeper, more concentrated and
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont
In 2013 Roagna began a collaboration with the owner of the historic vineyard Faset in Barbaresco. 2013 was our first year of production. Faset is a historic cru, close to Asili and the Rocche di Barbaresco which produces incredibly elegant wines. This little parcel is South West exposed. Receives the same vineyard work, 60 days […]
Spanna from Gattinara, Alto Piemonte
The 2014 Gattinara Molsino is shy and introverted in its first impression, with quite a bit of intensity lurking in the background. Today, the Molsino is not as expressive as the Valferana, but its day will come. With a bit of aeration, the 2014 starts to show the structure, layers of nuance and resonance that will emerge more fully in time.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 PointsHard not to take notice wine Roberto Conterno decided to drop some coin on a new vineyard! Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits
There is terrific intensity to the sleek and mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess fine size, weight & focused power on the saline finish where a touch of bitter cherry appears. Through a métayage arrangement since the early 1980s, Ponsot has just under a hectare of vines in En Griotte (the largest holding). Griotte is a tiny, 2.7 hectare site, completely surrounded by the other Grand Crus of Gevrey. The Ponsot’s vines are now 30 years old. It’s always fascinating to compare eac
