Pinot Noir from Pommard, Côte du Beaune
A highly perfumed and elegant nose is comprised by notes of spicy red currant, plum and more discreet earth influence. The succulent but punchy medium weight flavors exude a refreshing bead of salinity on the balanced, complex, long and only slightly austere finale. This is a terrific Pommard villages and recommended. ♥ Outstanding Top valueAllen Meadows, Burghound 90 PointsNote: from a blend of La Rue au Port, Les Combes and Petits Noizons where the latter comprises about 75% o
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
“The 2022 Meursault Clos du Cromin may lack a bit of bandwidth on the nose: quite strict citric fruit, a touch of grass clippings, and a bit closed on the day. The palate is well-balanced with good depth on the entry, orange rind, tangerine and grapefruit towards the long, if slightly attenuated, finish.”Neal Martin, Vinous 87-89 Points JM 90-92*Check out Patrick Javillier's Meursault Clos du Cromin too!
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Côte du Beaune
Fascinating tasting this with Burghound’s note and next to a 2020 Guillard ‘Reniard’ from Gevrey-Chambertin. The villages of Savigny-lès-Beaune and Chorey-lès-Beaune tend to show the sunshine a little more compared to those both further south and north. Dark and clearly ripe, Pavelot has maintained energy and vitality. The tannins build to a crescendo along the palate balancing the richness with a fine acid. The shape and flow are generous, yet linear with that quality tannin and persist
Pinot Noir from Pommard, Côte du Beaune
Maison Dieu is the name of an actual lieu-dit situated in Pommard but Violot chooses to employ the term cuvée anyway; in the period prior to 1937 this well-situated parcel was declared as Pommard rather than Bourgogne“Ripe aromas of red berries, plum and plenty of earth lead to voluminous and very rich middle weight flavors that possess a seductive texture before concluding in a clean, refreshing and only mildly rustic finale.” Burghound
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Côte du Beaune
Pavelot's Top wine rates as one of the few remaining bargains in Burgundy! The 2019 is on the edge of the next phase of life, still incredibly youthful, a hint of secondary character is sneaking through. As seems always to be the case with Pavelot's top 1er Cru 'La Dominode' it hold a wonderful balance between ripeness, energy and vitality, subtle well handled oak balancing the sunshine the village of Savigny typically offers. Opulent and plush, mulberries play with a fine line of spice. A clea
Chardonnay from Puligny-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
A slightly riper nose combines notes of just sliced pear and apple along with background nuances of floral and zest trimmed in mildly more wood influence. The rich, delicious and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors possess just a bit better depth and persistence on the firmer finale. This too is very good, indeed it could pass for a lower-level villages wine. 2027+ ♥ Outstanding Top valueAllen Meadows, Burghound (87-89) Points
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
Bourgogne from Meursault Vineyards! Proving once again that you have to know the fruit source of any Bourgogne level wines. Javillier's are both from vineyards in Meursault. The Cuvée de Forgets from the Volnay side and the Cuvée Oligocène from the Puligny side.
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
"A notably ripe yet still attractively fresh nose flashes a hint of exotic fruit character on the notes of white peach, poached pear and whiff of lychee. There is once again very good energy to the delicious, round and rich flavors that also deliver fine length on the clean and dry finish."Allen Meadows, Burghound
Pinot Noir from Premeaux-Prissey, Côte-de-Nuits
Ripe red berry fruit aromas are liberally cut with spice and earth nuances. There is fine volume and richness for a Bourgogne with its delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that display some rusticity on the youthfully austere finale. This is a quality effort for the genre and a wine that should easily repay 3 to 5 years of cellaring. Pinot Noir from Monthelie, Côte du Beaune
Here the expressive nose is spicier and a bit more floral as well with its baked plum, black cherry and soft earth scents. I very much like the texture of the medium-bodied flavors that are more precise if not quite as rich or powerful, all wrapped in a mildly sweet finish where a touch of warmth slowly emerges. While qualitatively similar, the texture of this and the Les Duresses are like night and day.Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-92 Points
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
100% Chassagne fruit. This is a delicious drink straight off the bat. Approachable young and good to go over the next few years. A level of generosity and immediate appeal while showing the freshness and hinting at the complexity and precision that comes as you move through Alex's range. The 2023 Bourgogne Blanc offers up aromas of white flowers, citrus zest and sourdough bread, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant palate.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 88-89 Points
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
The 2021 Bourgogne Blanc has a simple but bright malic nose, well-defined and a little flinty in style. The palate is well balanced with bitter lemon on the entry, moderate depth and a short saline finish. Fine.Neal Martin, Vinous 85-87 PointsA background hint of reduction blurs the nuance of the petrol and citrus zest-scented nose. The racy, delicious and nicely concentrated middleweight flavors possess a lovely texture that contrasts somewhat with the mildly rustic and agreeably dr
