A beautifully layered and fresh nose offers up notes of essence of plum, rose petal, anise and hints of wood toast, forest floor and the sauvage. Once again there is a lovely and caressing mouthfeel to the medium weight and tautly muscular flavors that possess good delineation and a touch of minerality that adds a touch of lift to the firm, serious and sneaky long finish where a bit of youthful austerity eventually emerges. Sweet spotAllen Meadows, Burghound 92-95 PointsThe 2022 Clo

This too is cool, airy and spicy with its essence of red currant, cherry and crushed fennel aromas. The notably finer texture of the middleweight flavors is immediately evident as there is a lilting but punchy mouthfeel, all wrapped in a dusty, silky and refined yet firm, serious and youthfully austere finish. I very much like the balance and this too should be more than capable of rewarding a decade plus of keeping.Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 PointsThe 2022 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Pe

The 2002 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru, which comes from vines born in 1904, is endowed with darker fruit than the Grands-Echézeaux. Well-defined, maybe a little opulent in style, yet still controlled. The palate is well-endowed with dark berry fruit, more black than red, pain d'épice and white pepper. There’s plenty of substance and grip towards the finish. But it is always elegant and deserves 10-12 years in bottle. Excellent. Drink: 2030-2065Neal Martin, Vinous 95-97 P

Here too there is a hint of herbal tea to the more deeply pitched and earthier aromas. There is almost painful intensity to the sleek medium-bodied flavors that also conclude in a superbly long if decidedly austere finale. This is definitely a dense wine in the context of the 2021 vintage and not surprisingly, one of the more powerful ones as well. Patience strongly advised. "The 2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru includes around 40% whole bunch, as the bunches were larger this year. Boasting wonderful delineation and precision, it has a lifted bouquet with dark berry fruit, hints of brown spices and blackcurrant leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. Linear, focused and tensile from start to finish, there is a touch of piquancy toward the finish. Outstanding."Neal Martin, Vinous 94-96 Points
While not quite as elegant as the nose of the Beaux Bruns, here too an airy and super-floral mix features an array of various red berries laced with notes of lavender, violet and earth. Once again there is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the bigger-bodied flavors that exhibit evident power and punch, all wrapped in a dusty, balanced and focused finish. This could use better depth but that should be a matter of having the patience to wait.Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-94 Points
