Margherita Otto Langhe Nebbiolo 2019

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Italy

2019 is the first vintage of Langhe Nebbiolo to be produced. It is made from a small part of vines registered as Nebbiolo Langhe in the Vignane MGA (in Barolo, next to Castellero) as well as some declassified fruit from the Barolo parcels. In 2019, the Nebbiolo was fermented on skins for about 10 days before being racked to preserve fruit and freshness. It went through malo in steel and was transferred to a single 1000L Mittelberger botti for aging. This is super fresh and aromatic with Baro

🇮🇹Bravo Massimo!👋🏻
What a debut! I can't believe this fruit went into the Langhe Neb for a while. Another class act from Massimo! What a debut! I can't believe this fruit went into the Langhe Neb for a while. In their youth, this has more immediate mid-palate generosity & appeal than Massimo's Ravera. It has great purity and is a classy wine. While more harmonious now. I believe the Ravera will pip it in the longer term. Both will make you happy. Just wait 3 years before ripping the lid off it!

Nebbiolo | Monforte d'Alba, Italy

From Ravera in Monforte. As the vines age they will make Barolo! From Ravera in Monforte, this is made from the youngest vines (that will eventually be made as Barolo) and is made the same way as her three baroli and then aged in barriques for twelve months. As a baby Barolo, this has some serious pedigree with rich, plush fruit of red berries with crushed flowers. Hard to beat for the money and an ‘affordable’ cellaring option.

Domenico Clerico Barolo 2013

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo (sub-region)

From one of the Barolo Boys, it's only fitting that 2013 has ended up as the release in the year of Domenico's Passing A Barolo with a great purity of darker fruit, hints of tar, and, a perfumed lift of violets. Just a lick of oak adding to the wine's complexity. Lovely generosity and length of fruit. Long even tannins.

Delicious, Elegant and Sophisticated!
Alessandro looked after the Bartolo-Mascarello vineyards & wines for 20years! We're talking one of the cult producers of Barolo! Personality+++ An elegance here, perfume lifting from the glass. Savoury with a splash of chocolate, black tea, blood orange wrapped around a core of bright red fruits. This is just divine drinking right now. A demonstration in just how well young Barolo can drink. Well through puberty, excellent development, plenty of intrigue, layered aromas drawing you in. Li

Domenico Clerico Barolo 2017

Nebbiolo | Monforte d'Alba, Italy

A massive surprise, the oak is no longer the dominant feature of the Clerico wines. Hoo fucken’ ray! We have balance! I can see fruit, I can see the Commune and I can happily swallow the beverage and want to go back for another sniff. I couldn’t even say that about the 2016’s. So what’s going on? Domenico did so much to help revitalise Barolo, it would however be fair to say that after the early revolution, evolution was very slow. The wines often dominated by overt oak and tough tannins

Giovanni Sordo Barolo ‘Perno’ 2015

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Took the second longest to reveal more of itself. Like the other wines in the bracket it demands time in the bottle. Perfume combined with secondary complexity the name of the game here! This is all Monforte, with giveaway blue fruits, violet, cherry liqueur and some mint. Firm, taut and fleshy, this is typical of this part of Perno, the Cerretta parcel, immediately adjoining Conterno-Fantino’s, with which it shares a similar darker ‘blue’ style. Tannins seem very ripe this year…but they

Giovanni Sordo Barolo ‘Perno’ 2019

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

All of those Monforte tannins offering up a delightfully edgy mouthfeel. Understanding of how Sordo's Perno evolves, you can see exactly where this will end up. Grap a 2015, 2010 Riserva, 2008, 2004 or 2001 from our museum collection and you'll see! Yes it’s tight now. Give it 5 years and you will go to a very happy place. The 2010 Perno Riserva and 2008 Gabutti Riserva where the first 2 Sordo Barolos I drank. They lit a fire and I see everything in the 2019 that excited me about the 2010.
