Domaine Louis Jadot Corton-Grèves Grand Cru 2019

Pinot Noir | Aloxe-Corton, Burgundy

"Abundant menthol and wood nuances are present on the ripe aromas of black raspberry and sauvage scents. The dense, plush and less powerful flavors also exude evident minerality on the austere, focused and balanced finish that isn't quite as complex. Note that this classic Corton is also quite compact and in need of extended cellaring." Allen Meadows, Burghound

An ultra-floral inflected nose speaks of spicy dark berry fruit aromas laced with hints of earth, game and again, a smoky hint. The sleek, intense and beautifully refined larger-scaled flavors possess a beguiling texture while exuding a bracing salinity on the firm, youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. This too needs better depth, but more should develop if it's allowed at least 6 to 8 years of cellar time. Drink 2032+ Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-94 Points

An overtly floral nose reflects notes of rose petal, lavender, acacia and violet along with nuances of red and black fruit, earth and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent intensity, size, weight and power to the attractively textured big-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the caressing but punchy finale. This beautifully balanced effort is in the classic mold of this wine as it's very clearly built for the long haul and again, I would suggest not touching this wine for at least a

A pretty if noticeably reserved nose features a layered assortment of mineral reduction, acacia blossom, lemon rind and freshly sliced Granny Smith apples. The succulent and tautly muscular larger-scaled flavors exhibit plenty of minerality while culminating in a powerful and beautifully persistent finale. This is really quite stylish and could aptly be described as a Corton-Charlemagne of refinement. 2028+ Burghound

A markedly more restrained nose grudgingly reveals its array of green apple, lemon rind, wet stone and a variety of spice wisps. There is outstanding size, weight and power to the intensely stony big-bodied flavors that conclude in a compact, tightly wound, very dry and youthfully austere finale. This possesses excellent development potential that should allow it to repay at least a decade of keeping. With that said, it's not so backward that it couldn't be approached after 5 or so years. 2030+

Faiveley is definitely a Domaine on the Ascention Mingling deep fruit tones evocative of red cherries and plums with notions of loamy soil, licorice, orange rind, rose petals and sweet spices, the 2020 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, tangy acids and a long, saline finish. This is extremely promising. William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 94-96 BH 92-94

Impressive Depth!

Domaine Ponsot Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 2014

Pinot Noir | France, Aloxe-Corton

Lush red cherries & raspberry preserve aromas, dried orange peel, menthol. Medium-bodied with ripe red berry fruit and cracked black pepper, saline with impressive depth & structure on the finish. This is our second allocation of this wine, which hails from a 0.26 hectare parcel of this powerful terroir. The vines here are on the younger side, but low yields of less than 25 hl/ha and Ponsot’s typically late picking offset the relative youth of the vines. It’s a deeper, more concentrated and

Maison Ponsot Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne 2020

Chardonnay | Côte du Beaune, Aloxe-Corton

First produced in 2009, Ponsot’s Corton-Charlemagne is drawn from two parcels, both in Aloxe: one on the Pernand border in Le Charlemagne and the second in Les Languettes. As you can see from the notes below, this is a deep, fleshy yet energetic and vibrant Charlemagne. A great success! “Split equally between fruit from Les Languettes and Le Charlemagne on the Aloxe side, this was a slow fermenter. It didn't finish its alcoholic fermentation until July 2021! As they say, good things c
