In a screw-cap bottle, the organic Pieropan 2024 Soave Classico is a favorite bottle from Northern Italy for very good reason. A more typical Soave style than the Salvarenza, beautifully built on a frame of quality fruit. Pear and citrus are cleansed by a very typical and lovely silvery line of bitterness. Long with a lovely mid-palate. A great mid-palate is a sign of a good wine!

Andrea Pieropan told us it was named after the hill Jesus was crucified on, reflecting how difficult the soil is to work and the tortuous path which winds from top to bottom.A ripping Calvarino. It's a rich, textural interpretation of Soave, with great harmony, hints of spice, lovely phenolics (giving texture) and length. The age of the vineyards is reflected in the depth of fruit. Energetic yet beautifully developed. Layered complex, lovely textural, bit of barrel & lees time. Full luscious. Baking spice. Brooding at the moment. A remarkable wine 15 years in the making! Calvarino 5 is the first wine of the "Vini dell'Anima" collection. Born from a project by Leonildo Pieropan and his sons Dario and Andrea, it is a blend of five Calvarino vintages (2008-2009-2010-2011-2012) aged for at least 10 years in large cement tanks on lees in the cellar. Ageing this way in Pieropan's cool cellars is slow and controlled. This is a fascinating wine highlighting the incredible results blending across vintages can deliver.Cool
