Blend from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Vallée de la Marne
When I was making wine at Yarra Yering we used a Solera barrel of Chardonnay in the liqueur d'expedition for the fizz. The depth, length, and, complexity of this wine with those Oxy notes was a great foil to the richness in the base wines.Fascinating to see what happend to wines made of quality fruit when you age them for extended periods in wood.

In its youth, March 2023, it needs a little warmth and air to coax out the fruit. Often in the 'Pro' wine circles, you're asked to nail your banner to a mast in a blind tasting. Although a Chardonnay, Fabrice has fooled, without malice, many a Champenois, who has called this wine a Pinot. Such a beautiful Rosé. If finding a good wine is hard, finding tasty Rosé Champagne is a true mission. There are so many tricked up hard angular wines. Fabrice has got it all going on here. Rosé made by allowing fruit skin contact rather than dosing a white wine with some Red really does appear to offer a much more refined result. Hanging to do a side by side with Pouillon's Meunier and Prévost's. To excellent makers two different styles! 100% Pinot Meunier from a site in Fesigny. My Note from the 2012:Like all of Pouillon's wines, this is superb. Fine, delicious, so together with incredible harmony. Not as Oxy as Prévost's, it still has an oxidative note. The core of fruit is there, easily carrying it. Excellent vinosity, pure, fine, long red berry fruits. The texture dances across your palate. Beautifully lay

It has just the right level of oxidative vinosity, so well supported by a core of fruit that has great length and depth. I keep coming back the the harmony, layers of complexity and balance. Will the Pinot seems to be the dominant, as would be expected in the front and mid-palate, the line and length from the Chardonnay and the mineral nature to this
Chardonnay from Aÿ, Vallée de la Marne
A divine, powerful, Blanc de Blanc from Aÿ, typically a Pinot village. Superb poise, incredible mouthfeel, long and fine. Incredible complexity, this builds in a big glass revealing layer after layer of fruit, patisserie notes, lightly toasted almond, and gentle, refined oxidative hints. This is benchmark gear. Chardonnay from Aÿ, Vallée de la Marne
Valnon makes a stunning Blanc de Blanc. Unusual to see Chardonnay grown on a Grand Cru site in Aÿ, a village known for its Pinot Noir. Great power, the incredible intensity of fruit is a clear sign of just how good the vineyard and winemaking are. As with all of Frabrice's wines the mouthfeel and harmony are exceptional. A profound statement in a glass.
