Year after year Bouland has turned stunning, beautiful wines! This is the only Cuvée of the 4 we offer from the 2023 vintage I haven't had a chance to taste. Word from those I trust is that it is looking sharp!One of the wineries I buy from each year without hesitation.
Gamay Noir from Morgon, Beaujolais
Of the two Bellevue Cuvées, the Cailloux has better balance and energy with a touch less alcohol and a touch more acid. Excellent darker, earthier profile than the Chiroubles. Beautifully weighted, plump fruit with a spice layer and just a little playful stalk tannin grip keeping the palate lively and, with that fine line of acid, refreshing. Any excellent rendition and like the other 2023's more immediate approachability than previous vintages. I typically find Bouland's wines need at least 18
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont
A Langhe Nebb made from young vine Rabajà .. Yes it's true! Always a fun wine. Elegant and juicy fruited, with solid core of fruit wrapped in chewy tannins. It’s a playful Langhe. Typically perfumed with a savoury twang, a little orange. Loads of fun to be had here. Always better after an extra year in bottle & a good decant. Will reward 2-5 years patience.Even his Langhe Neb is young vine Rabajà!

With each step up through the range, the oak sophistication increases. Whilst clearly present in the Ardanza, it is much more sophisticated texturally. The 2019 Ardanza has a fresh line of acid. It's tight and quite vertical. Just starting to resolve. It still needs time to build expression and generosity. Saline with blue fuits. Linear shape and flow with excellent transparency. Nebbiolo from Sassella, Valtellina
As with the 2015 I found myself not really wanting to write tasting notes simply wanting to devour the glass! Although it was line ball between the 2015 Inferno and Sassella I always lent toward the Sassella as a personal preference. ArPePe have delivered a cracker. Sassella typically produces the most elegant wines of the three communes with Inferno next and Grumello the boldest.The weight of the Sassella is on par with the Inferno this year. Amongst an Ocean of Champagne Rosé this is one of the few that stands out! A Rosé with great poise, well balanced, with a great depth and length of fruit delicious Pinot fruit. No need to rely on excessive sugar to make up for poor fruit here! The texture and spice from the addition of a small percentage of red wine to colour the Rosé is just right adding intrigue and cleansing your palate. Rosé as it should be! Available in 750ml.
Nebbiolo from Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo
Excellent fleshy core of fruit. Opens beautiful. Fine acid and expertly handled tannin with a playful edge. Pretty perfume. Fresh red fruits, well balanced. Plenty of fun. Accessible now with much more to come. Comes in individual wooden box.Also available in 750ml.
