While Vietti's Villero is their Top Wine. This is my favorite! The 2021 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is elegant, floral and lifted. I also find it a bit reticent in the early going. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, white pepper and spice open with some coaxing. I would not dream of touching a bottle anytime soon, the wine's considerable sensuality notwithstanding.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 96+ PointsThis is a serious beauty that reminds us of the brilliant work und

Vietti Barolo ‘Lazzarito’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Stunning immediate red fruits, wicked acid and epic long, even structured tannin. Serralunga to a T. Pun intended, for it has fine black tea aroma and flavours. Insane depth & a long, even core of fruit. Deceptive richness, drive & purity. Savoury. Impressive wine that will take time to reveal its true self. Recommend minimum 7 years in bottle. Such power with finesse.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Sept 2025Fruit for this wine comes from a three-hectare parcel in Serralunga d'Alba n

La Rioja Alta 890 Gran Reserva 2011

Red Blend | Spain, Haro

As only the second vintage of 890 I've tried I was immediately struck by the contrast the 2011 has compared with the 2010. Share a glass with the importer, he remarked that the 2011 is a more typical vintage for the 890. While 2010 presented with a richness and generosity, the 2011 has the hallmarks of a great Claret. Vibrant fruit with a subtle underlying lacing of oak, building in the glass, fruit slowly shining through. A fine line of acid adds to the impression of delicacy and restraint. Low

The E. Pira e Figli - Chiara Boschis 2020 Barolo Mosconi has some of the extra ripeness of the vintage with cherry cream syrup, grenadine, watermelon candy and a drop of Pastis. The wine ends on a powerful note with a balanced combination of fruit and fine oak tannins. The palate is very alive, and the fruit feels very vibrant at this young stage.Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 96 Points AG 95 JD 98

"Aromas of ripe plum, spice, damp earth and the sauvage are trimmed in admirably discreet wood. There is fine richness and volume to the sleek, intense and well-detailed middle weight flavors that are quite saline in character, all wrapped in a relatively powerful, palate coating and long if mildly rustic finish. This too is an impressive villages and recommended. ♥ Outstanding Top value"Allen Meadows, Burghound

Giacomo Conterno Nebbiolo d’Alba ‘Arione’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

A parcel of Arione has been earmarked for Monfortino in 2015, giving a strong indication of the quality of the site! The first release in this stellar vintage of this wine which is an expression of the section of Arione that falls outside of the region of Barolo. Made in exactly the same way as Roberto’s Barolo, with slightly less aging, this wine is so very pretty. Supple fruit, clean and lithe, almost, but with great stuffing and all the hallmarks of great Barolo. Spice, mineral, red and dar

The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, licorice, rose petals, spices and forest floor. Medium to fullbodied, ample and satiny, it’s seamless and complete, with beautifully refined tannins, racy acids and a long, saline finish. Drink 2025-2050 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 94 Points

Aromas of wild berries, dark chocolate, sweet spices, licorice and rose petals preface the 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes, a full-bodied, ample and layered wine that’s rich, powerful and gourmand, with a ripe core of fruit, powdery tannins and succulent balancing acids. It’s a compelling success, but it will reward some bottle age. Drink 2030-2050 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 94+ Points

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru 2019

Pinot Noir | Vosne-Romanée, France

Mocha, black cherry and floral-infused aromas introduce less concentrated but sleeker middle weight flavors that possess a beguiling textured are shaped by more polished and finer-grained tannins on the more complex and persistent finish. This is quite pretty and should also age well. Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 Points Mongeard-Mugneret hold 4 plots of the Grand Cru Echézeaux, in the climats Les Rouges du Bas, Echézeaux du dessus, 2 in Les Treux (including a Vielles Vignes parcel)

Vietti Barolo ‘Ravera’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Pretty, red fruit. Beautifully developed. Impeccable élévage. An underlying tar/leather/slate notes layering in intriguing complexity. The Vietti crew have built quite a lot of structure into this Ravera of Novello. A wonderful example of Ravera making for a very complex iteration. Lovely generosity. Fine plush Neb tannin. Divine roses. Impressive!  Bud-break & harvest is around 2-3 weeks later than most of the other Communes for Vietti.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Sept 2025The 202

Luciano Sandrone Barolo ‘Le Vigne’ MAGNUM 2019

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo (sub-region)

Bugger! The investors are onto it! An excellent Le Vigne. The restraint in oak use is clever, discrete, just a beuatiful layer. Going back to the 2013 the wood was more overt on release. Today the 2013’s are fully resolved and wonderfully layered. The 2019 is complex, refined & elegant, with vibrant fruit & faded flowerst. A delicacy with great density of fruit. Remaining refreshing. There is enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit though there is by contrast very good freshness and tension to the sleek, detailed and tautly muscular flavors that also conclude in a decidedly austere, compact and mildly warm finish. This powerful and vaguely rustic effort will also require ample patience to arrive at its full maturity.. Drink: 2036+ Outstanding ♥Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 NM 93-95
