Thrilled to be able to offer my thoughts on this special wine. Lunch with the full current release set from La Rioja Alta was thrilling. The wines are a demonstration of respect for the past and judicious use of modern technology combined with an approach that offer a style reminiscent of a refreshed classic. No fads here! The Ardanza is a ridiculous value. Coming on 10 years old. This is very good. The harmony and grape first tannin with layering of very subtle oak that wraps rather than in

With each step up through the range, the oak sophistication increases. Whilst clearly present in the Ardanza, it is much more sophisticated texturally. The 2019 Ardanza has a fresh line of acid. It's tight and quite vertical. Just starting to resolve. It still needs time to build expression and generosity. Saline with blue fuits. Linear shape and flow with excellent transparency. It's be intriguing to sit on a bottle over a couple of days and see where it ended up.Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded May

This wine used to come to us simply as Morgon Vieilles Vignes without the name of the vineyard or lieu-dit (it is now labelled Morgon Les Délys Vignes plantées en 1926). It comes from a single hectare of 100-year-old vines located on the Morgon-Chiroubles border at the end of the Corcelette valley—a terroir historically known as Délys. The old, gnarled vines sit on a southeast-facing slope, planted at 10,000 vines per hectare. As always, this is likely to be Bouland’s most age-worthy w

Year after year Bouland has turned stunning, beautiful wines! Drawn from the Domaine’s Corcelette vines rooted in this lieu-dit’s rockier soils. The vines here are only a little younger than the centurion beasts that go in the Sable version of this wine. It’s a terroir that gives a slightly more structured Morgon than the Sable cuvée. To be honest, we have never really had a preference between the two since they were differentiated on the labels starting with the 2019 vintage: both wines

Giuseppe Cortese Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

A Langhe Nebb made from young vine Rabajà .. Yes it's true! Always a fun wine. Elegant and juicy fruited, with solid core of fruit wrapped in chewy tannins. It’s a playful Langhe. Typically perfumed with a savoury twang, a little orange. Loads of fun to be had here. Always better after an extra year in bottle & a good decant. Will reward 2-5 years patience. The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo emerges from young vines in Trifolera. It's a gorgeous entry-level wine with tons of Nebbiolo charact

The Dolcetto grapes we produce come from our own vineyards, where we find soils typical of the Helvetian region (ancient in origin, calcareous-clayey with shades of pale gray and pink. Alternating layers also include siliceous sandstone, calcium carbonate, and iron). The color is intense ruby red with purple highlights. The persistent floral and fruity aromas of sweet violets and small red fruits give it a pleasant immediacy. Its moderate tannins and balanced, elegant structure make it the quint

Fresh vibrant juicy fruit, juicy acid, beetroot on cherry. Delightful, elegant, savoury playful, could get cerebral if you want but don’t have to. 35-90 year old vine. Energy, lovely fine texture, with veil of ever so slightly dusty tannins. Heart shaped fruit tapering with delicacy into a long finish. Excellent contrast to the power of Morgon, the finess and elegance of Fleurie at play.

Many of Barolo's greats would argue that you should judge a maker on their Dolcetto before their Nebbiolo! Giacosa does Dolcetto justice. The missing links for Dolcetto are typically sorting reduction and developing the wine sufficiently. Giacosa jumps those hurdles with ease and breezes past the finish line with quality fruit & considered handling to offer us a wine with a refined mouthfeel.Savoury, vibrant, dark, with an excellent core of fruit thirst-quenching and delicious. Pieropan Soave ‘Calvarino’ 2023

White Blend | Veneto, Italy

The name 'Calvarino' translates to 'small ordeal'. Andrea Pieropan told us it was named after the hill Jesus was crucified on, reflecting how difficult the soil is to work and the tortuous path which winds from top to bottom.A ripping Calvarino. A smidge fuller than general with the acid to hold it. As usual, the fresher of the 2 Cru wines. Excellent core of vibrant fruit with loads going on. It feels like there's been a little more work on textural components and mid-palate weigh

L’Erta di Radda Chianti Classico 2021

Red Blend | Tuscany, Chianti Classico

This looks very good. Earthy, savoury, vibrant energetic. Openning in the glass, to reveal a comforting, flowing, delicious wine. The faintest lick of botti oak wash. Excellent core of fruit layered and caressing. Delicious. Grape First. Just yum. Part of the new wave doing it in style! The earth and spice from Canaiolo, savoury  & delicious. Relax, devour it and just smile!“The 2021 Chianti Classico is a deep, savory wine that is still coming together after its bottling. Crushed

Delicious! Spiced with a lick of lanolin, expressive out of the gate with a flow and shape that indicates a patient long ferment filling out/depth in the mid-palate with a little nutty lees work softening a fine line of juicy acid. Salty mineral, fun! A little mandarin peel, slightly dried, on citrus just a whiff of white flowers. Wonderful drinking.Paul Kaan, Wine Decocded Jan 2026The white Godello 2023 La Salvación was produced with grapes from a one-hectare centenary plot in Arga

Albero is the result of a single annual saca (the castellano verb sacar is to take out or withdraw) of unfiltered or en rama Manzanilla, from the solera system of barrels, or soleraje which generates Barbiana Manzanilla. Barbiana is an Andalucian market brand (typically not exported) owned by Delgado Zuleta, and hence the little sister of the renowned La Goya Manzanilla. La Goya has seven clases, or different age levels within its soleraje. Barbiana is a little younger and has four clases (if we
