The 2022 Savennières Clos de Fremine has purity and tranquility; it's a cloud of Chenin Blanc blossoming in the mouth. There were a lot of grapes that didn't make the grade in 2022 due to the hot, dry conditions of the season, but the strict sorting implemented by Boudignon and team appears to have done the trick. With each step up through the range, the oak sophistication increases. Whilst clearly present in the Ardanza, it is much more sophisticated texturally. The 2019 Ardanza has a fresh line of acid. It's tight and quite vertical. Just starting to resolve. It still needs time to build expression and generosity. Saline with blue fuits. Linear shape and flow with excellent transparency. The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is one of the most elegant, polished wines in this range. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, spice, mint and cedar are beautifully lifted.
