Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
Made primarily from Goldtröpchen fruit, with some grapes sourced from two more elevated vineyards, delicate playful fun dry Rizza, juicy with zippy acid. Hints of musk earthiness and a couple of savoury pops. This is very clever stuff. Nicely developed for an entry level wine it’s excellent. When you drink concentrate on the mouthfeel, the shape of the wine as it flows across your palate and clean finish.

AP 12.18 The 2017er Dhroner Hofberg Spätlese was harvested at 92° Oechsle in a prime parcel planted in the 1950s. It delivers a beautiful nose of whipped cream, vineyard peach, smoke, almond, earl grey and yellow plum. The wine offers great, almost concentrated presence on the mid-palate, yet a juicy and racy kick of acidity adds layers upon layers of freshness and intensity to the finish. The Wehlener Auslese had everything. The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese, without any botrytis to speak of, flirts with peach bathed in orange zest with a gorgeous frisson of bergamot. It has a serene sweetness, delving deep into ripe, golden peach flesh. The 2024 is gorgeously framed with tangy citrus on a beautifully contoured body that is so racy, sleek and smooth. Always a favourite! In England they offer tea in the afternoon in the Mosel they offer Kabinett! The 2024 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett is still a little flinty but tender green apple shows through. The palate stays on this beautifully bright side where fruitiness is juicy and tart, but its freshness is absolutely subsumed and intertwined with ripeness. Poised, refined, rich with wonderful tension. The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett opens with subtle hints of creamy woodruff, candied angelica and wet slate.
