Mourvèrdre from Frankland River, West Australia

Swinney Mourvèdre 2021

Mouvèdre is more often seen as a blending component offering a superb perfume of violets and flowers, structured tannins yet not necessarily the overt fruit making it a perfect fit in a Grenache Shiraz Mouvèdre. Although I didn't get to try this wine the 2021 Swinney Mouvèdre demonstrated why a stand-alone version from this Frankland River version works. Australian wine often has opulent sweet fruit that needs taming, in this instance the fruit gives their Mouvèdre the missing link to making

Pinot Noir from Picadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills

DAOSA Natural Reserve 8th Release

Showing the wonderful minerality of Picadilly fresh & vibrant. Excellent red fruit with strawberries and cream. Lacing of florals and citrus, seamless and beautifully integrated. Ripe yet sophisticated, elegant fruit. Complexed by a harmonious reserve wine. Balanced to allow the fruit to shine, vibrant, salty acidity with a calming low dosage. Proper base wine élévage sees a complete wine on release. Xavier goes for a full malo as he doesn’t like the texture of malic acid. Whatever

Clonakilla O'Raida Shiraz 2021
An Icon!

Shiraz/Syrah from Murrumbatemen, ACT

Clonakilla O’Raida Shiraz 2021

A great introduction to Shiraz from Clonakilla & Murumbatemen, Canberra. Cool climate Shiraz with excellent texture and shape. Opulent & generous fruit, tamed by excellent tannins with an edge of playful grip and energetic acid. Plum and red fruit have spice, savoury, graphite, and that hallmark pepper playing around with florals making for an entrancing perfume. Delicious, complete, harmonious, and thirst-quenching!

Shiraz/Syrah from Macedon, Victoria

Place of Changing Winds ‘Harcourt’ Syrah 2022

Liking the secondary nature of the flavour and aroma profile. Textural with a nice edge of grip that adds intrigue and a thirst-quenching nature to the wines. Earthy with a darkness. Still tightly coiled, it's a wine that will reveal much more with a couple of days open in bottle. Beautiful perfume violets and blue / red fruits with a little graphite. Fun piss.“Highly perfumed, red berries, some cranberry zestiness, wild scree and herbs in a pepper-meets-alpine greenery kind of whiff,

Place of Changing Winds ‘Harcourt’ Marsanne Roussanne 2023

Rob & Remy talk about chasing phenolics and golden ripeness, tasting the skins. It shows in the personality of the wine, savoury textural even oily. Pear & ginger fruits with a perfume dancing over the top. That cleansing silvery line of bitterness that plays well. Fruits come with time in the glass. A little more freshness and energy than previous iterations that include Heathcote fruit.“This is such a wonderful wine its success is in its concentration of flavour and texture (

Chardonnay from Yarra Valley, Victoria

A.Rodda ‘Willow Lake’ Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2024

The Willow Lake has excellent depth and length, with the acid to match the fruit intensity. It needs the most time to resolve of Adrian's 3 Chardonnays. When it does it is going to be freaky good. Australian Chardonnay just keeps getting better and better. Last year I was tasting a line of OK white Burgundy then moved onto A.Rodda's Chardonnays & BOOM! They're superb wines. The Willow Lake shows its site with long fine fruit with the acid to match. There's more immediate generosity straig

Pinot Noir from Yarra Valley, Victoria

DML VIN Upper Yarra Pinot Noir 2019

D'Anna + Middleton + Lewis = DML VIN Pinot! It’s very pretty and refined. All fresh raspberry and red cherry, floral perfume and a dusting of spice, kind of juicy, but nicely composed, expanding and filling the mouth with flavour and gentle emery tannin, fresh and long through the finish. Wholesome feeling, classic styling, and just lovely to drink Gary Walsh

Shiraz/Syrah from Yarra Valley, Victoria

Wine Decoded Yarra Valley Shiraz 2017

Our 3rd and Best Release is Here! I'm quietly very happy with this one. As a passion project we had no commercial time constraints and were able to give this much more time maturing in barrel and then bottle prior to release, over 5 years prior to release. The end result is a wine of poise and balance. I reckon I've nailed it. Delicious, cool climate Shiraz with energy, vibrant fruit, layered savoury, earthy complexity with pops of spice. An underlying darkness, fine, long, plush and caressin

Yarra Yering Dry Red No.2 HALF 2019
Seduction by Wine!

Red Blend from Yarra Valley, Victoria

Yarra Yering Dry Red No.2 HALF 2019

The original Shiraz Viognier blend .. with a spalsh ofMataro! A complex and layered wine; sweet and savoury all at once. The fragrance is melting pot of violets, plums, savoury spices and a whiff of bramble and five spice. Moderate in weight; the summer pudding fruits come in all colours dialling up the flavour interest. There is cigar box and cardamom spice lending intrigue. Firm yet fine tannins ably support the fruit and texture drive the palate. This one is hard to put in a box, there is so

Vanguardist Mourvèdre 2021
🧠+❤️= 💯

Mourvèrdre from McLaren Vale, South Australia

Vanguardist Mourvèdre 2021

"Plenty of spice, white pepper, blue flowers, red and blue fruits, a subtle honey nut and grilled meat character. It’s bright, all boysenberry and blueberry, only medium-bodied, crisp and lively, a slatey/mineral character to acidity, fine dusty concrete tannin, sappy dried herb stuff, pulling crunchy and red fruited on a long finish. Wonderful level of energy and vibrant feel here. It showed no sign of tiring after being open for two days either. Drink: 2024 - 2032+"Gary Walsh TWF 95 Poi

Shiraz/Syrah from Victoria, Australia

Craiglee Shiraz 2019

A delicate lick of oak with a hint of mocha is quickly usurped by fresh red and darker fruits, a little liquorice, and a background layer of plum pudding with spices and candied citrus rind. A savoury cured meat / light reduction adding complexity. Superfine, flowing, and soft texture with excellent mid-palate weight and length. Blossoming in the glass. Another classic from Pat! If Pat Carmody can’t make great shiraz, then we should all shut up shop. He’s only been doing so at C
