A French term. The process of Sélection Massale or Mass Selection in English requires a vigneron to know their vineyard intimately, to walk it, and, select individual vines to take cuttings from to grow new vines from. They select the best vines eliminating the poorest. Grapevines are easily propagated using cuttings. Depending on how the vineyard was established there may be a diversity of genetic material in the vineyard or simply a single a clone. Clones of different grape varieties are propagated from the one single parent vine, hence the term clone. Where there is a diversity of genetic material Sélection Massale can help maintain diversity compared to the planting of a single clone.

Domaine Thibert Saint-Véran ‘Bois de Fée’ 2020

Chardonnay | Pouilly-Fuisse, Burgundy

“Here too there is sufficient reduction to dominate the nose today. More interesting are the super-sleek and refined middle weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the chiseled, very dry and well-balanced finale. This is a terrific St. Véran and highly recommended, especially if you intend to age it.”Allen Meadows, Burghound 91 Points ♥ OutstandingThe 2020 Saint-Véran from Bois de Fée, which is the name of the lieu-dit in the commune of Chasselas, has a neutr

Max Ferdinand Richter Brauneberger-Juffer Kabinett 2020

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

"AP: 08 21. The 2020er Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett was made from fruit picked at 80° Oechsle on 50-year-old vines and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (45 g/l). It offers a gorgeous nose made of white peach, herbs, and fine spices. The wine feels slightly sweet on the palate at first before a great feel of citrusy zest lifts up the flavors in the finish. The aftertaste is simply stunning, being at the same time light-footed, gorgeously racy, mouthwatering,

Cavallotto Barolo ‘Bricco Boschis’ 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Focused, pure, without interference of oak, complex, considered élévage. Wine of great expression and vibrancy. “The 2017 Barolo Bricco Boschis is superb. A rush of crushed raspberry, rose petals, mint, sweet spice and blood orange gives the 2017 its effusive, sexy personality. Medium in body and exceptionally polished, the 2017 is an absolute jewel of a wine. Many 2017s are nervy and in need of time to soften, but not the Bricco Boschis. All the elements are so well-balanced. If I was going

"The 2018 Chablis Sechet 1er Cru is creamy, open-knit and wonderfully inviting. Soft contours and expressive aromatics give the wine much of its early accessibility; I imagine it will drink well with just a few years in bottle, although it should age gracefully for a number of years as well. Dried flowers, ginger and spice add attractive touches of complexity on the finish."Antonio Galloni, Vinous
