Recioto is the ancestor of the Amarone and the most ancient wine of the Valpolicella Appellation. It is produced, like Amarone, through the grapes drying in the so-called “fruttaio”. Once the grapes have lost at least half of their weight, and with the evaporation of the water, the desired concentration of sugars is achieved, so that the vinification can take place. The fermentation is stopped to preserve this wine’s typical structure and sweetness. So, it is the only sweet wine produced in Valpolicella, but thanks to its good acidity it’s never cloying.

Feeling Thirsty?

Great intensity and transparency! The 2022er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese initially shows a refined smoky and reductive touch of candied lime, whipped almond cream, smoke, fresh herbs, a touch of cassis, elderberry, bergamot, and lime tree. The wine is superbly and elegantly creamy and juicy with good structure and intensity. The finish proves incredibly intense and even slightly powerful, yet there is the usual sense of Prüm lightness in the aftertaste. This is a very impressive Spät

Le Macchiole Scrio 2020

Shiraz/Syrah | Tuscany, Bolgheri

A beautiful Syrah from Tuscany, the 2020 Scrio shows impeccable elegance with a very long and linear style that transcends the nose and the palate. I love the precision of this wine. The celebrated Rhône grape has found a very happy home along this part of the Tuscan coast. The team at Le Macchiole is especially talented at bringing out varietal nuances of dark fruit, baking chocolate, spice, charred meat, white pepper and pencil shaving.Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 97 PointsAntonio

The Fabrice Session 🎧 & 🎥 Inside!
Often in the 'Pro' wine circles, you're asked to nail your banner to a mast in a blind tasting. Although a Chardonnay, Fabrice has fooled, without malice, many a Champenois, who has called this wine a Pinot. It's not so much the flavours, but, the body, richness, and, mid-palate power that this wine offers that can confuse. In the end, all of this is irrelevant. What you have in front of you is a wine of purity, line, length, excellent acid, with lovely ripe flavours, a little pith and grapef

Ceretto Barolo ‘Prapò’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

Showing firm structure and a bold fruit profile, the Ceretto 2021 Barolo Prapò reveals a dark core with crushed stone, iron oxide and candied cherry. Prapò never holds back in terms of intensity. This site has a unique ripening cycle that means harvest comes 10 days later, giving the fruit more time to develop complexity. This wine is just terrific.Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 97 PointsThe 2021 Barolo Prapò is a dark, brooding wine, but then again, we are in Serralunga. Dried
