Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Riesling 2022

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

Great intensity and transparency! The 2022er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese initially shows a refined smoky and reductive touch of candied lime, whipped almond cream, smoke, fresh herbs, a touch of cassis, elderberry, bergamot, and lime tree. Rounder, plusher than the 2016. A lovely differentiation between vintage that still sees the qualities of clearly very fine house at play. None of the reduction Meadows noted on first release is present now. A little more time is needed for this to show it’s full colours at the moment. A little more savoury with the same fruit energy at play. As seems to be the case for the Domaine there is a harmony that you don’t always see in Burgundy. Superb drinking.

The equally tautly muscular yet refined and lilting flavors are blessed with excellent punch and power while exhibiting a pungent minerality on the hugely long built-to-age finish. This refined effort is both stylish and very classy. (from two parcels totaling .21 ha; 100% whole clusters) 2037+Allen Meadows, Burghound

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is impossible to ignore, slowly blossoming with an enticing blend of spice-dusted blackberries, violet pastille and orange zest. This impresses further with its vividly ripe wild berry fruits and juicy acidity. Tactile mineral tones add contrast, and rosy inner florals form toward the close. The 2019 lingers impossibly long, taking on a spicy edge, as the palate is left reverberating with zesty tension, even as fine-grained tannins grip the senses. The Pier
