Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune

Domaine Bernard Moreau Volnay 1er Cru ‘Les Santenots’ 2020

This is aromatically similar to the La Cardeuse but spicier. The palate impression of the middle weight flavors is also rich to the point of opulence before terminating in sappy, long and better-balanced finish though there is still a hint of backend warmth.Allen Meadows, Burghound

Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer

Clemens Busch Riesling Marienburg ‘Felseterrasse’ 2023

The Marienburg Felsterrasse 2023, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, was fermented down to officially dry levels of residual sugar and was bottled in August 2024. It offers a hugely complex and impressively layered nose of smoke, grapefruit, lime zest, fine spices, minty herbs (rosemary, thyme), freshly cut herbs, iodine, and violet. Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune

Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Vergers’ 2022

This is also suffering from post-bottling reduction so some air would be helpful if you're going to crack a bottle young. More interesting are the slightly sleeker middleweight flavors that also possess a seductive mouthfeel while delivering solid depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This should also repay up to a decade of keeping though unlike the Chenevottes, it's a wine that will need at least a few years of bottle aging first. Nebbiolo from Commune di Barolo, Barolo

Vietti Barolo ‘Cerequio’ 2021

Much more impact at the front end of the palate with a pleasing build in grip compared to the plush Brunate. Linear, long and fine. Lovely flowers. Long, even fruit of significant depth, with a lick of leather throwing in tar/slate/licorice complexity. Opening the class to reveal more opulence. Acid tannin complex is exceptional. Superb structure. The perfume is insane. Wow, as this builds in the glass, it builds in class, just opening beautifully. A lot of power.Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Sep
