Julian Haart ‘Haart’ Riesling 2020

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

A lovely build to a just off dry rizza. Here there is a little more generosity supported by excellent acid. Again the shape, mouthfeel and flow is excellent. The extension in depth and length here is impressive for just a few more coins. The flavours are riper, lemon sherbet without the sweetness and rind oil with grapefruit, with a little hint of baking spice, again the savoury earthy pops. Very sophisticated making. Incredibly moreish. Elderflower and much more on offer. Divine wine.

Julian Haart Mosel Riesling 2020

Riesling | Mosel, Germany

Made primarily from Goldtröpchen fruit, with some grapes sourced from two more elevated vineyards, delicate playful fun dry Rizza, juicy with zippy acid. Hints of musk earthiness and a couple of savoury pops. This is very clever stuff. Nicely developed for an entry level wine it’s excellent. When you drink concentrate on the mouthfeel, the shape of the wine as it flows across your palate and clean finish.

Julian Haart Piesporter Riesling 2020

Riesling | Mosel, Germany

"The 2020er Piesporter, as it is referred to on the red and silver consumer label, comes from the Goldtröpfchen. It offers a beautifully fresh, spicy, and floral nose of green herbs, smoke, pepper, white peach, greengage, almond, and still residual scents from its spontaneous fermentation. The wine is very straight and focused on the lively and even racy palate. It finishes bone-dry, pure, and vibrating with salty and spices elements. This dry wine is superbly balanced and shines through its en

Where in the World is Julian Haart?

Julian Haart is based in Piesporter further south down the Mosel River from Welen and Graach. Piesporter’s famous vineyards are Goldtröpchen, Schubertslay (being made extra famous by Keller’s purchase of a parcel), Domherr and Kreuztwingert.

He does a fruit exchange with Keller grabbing a few bunches of the Rheinhessen GG Frauenberg.

The German VDP has an excellent interactive map covering the wine growing regions of Germany. Clink on the Map to go to the live version. The map highlights his family’s winery. His relatively new estate hasn’t been added yet.
