Bourgogne from Meursault Vineyards! Proving once again that you have to know the fruit source of any Bourgogne level wines. Javillier's are both from vineyards in Meursault. The Cuvée de Forgets from the Volnay side and the Cuvée Oligocène from the Puligny side.

Yes, you can still buy Burgundy at a decent price! Thankfully Savigny-Les-Beaune has yet to scale the stratospheric price mountains of its neighbours and still offers excellent value. Javillier's, 100% destemmed, has fine plush tannins over beautifully perfumed red fruits, strawberries and cream with the faintest wiff of char from discretely balanced oak. Long with great persistence, excellent composure, and layers of complexing earth, mineral characters. Delicious rendition.

Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault 2018

Chardonnay | Meursault, France

This is a new Javillier cuvee and as such has not had the chance for review. “It is a blend of several selected plots in Meursault. This wine shows great aromatic power with a good acid balance. It is a structured wine with a long finish. The 2018 vintage is characterized by the power but above all the elegance.” Marion Javillier

Stepping up from the Bourgogne level wines in a big way. Building tension length and depth. Again excellent composure, tighter now as it should be. Give this 12 months and you’ll be in a very happy place. Entrancing nice white flowers on grapefruit. A little more energy. Excellent texture, chalky phenolic acid complex that works brilliantly. An edge of grapefruit esque bitterness. A wonderful fine example. The mid-palate depth is the thing that demonstrates the step up in quality here.

Here the more expressive nose offers another small step up in aromatic elegance with its cool aromas of spiced jasmine tea, essence of pear and wet stone. The intense and delineated middle weight flavors brim with both dry extract and minerality that coats the palate on the linear and beautifully long finish. This is a classic Tillets of lace and grace. ♥ 2025+ Burghound

Tasting this I reflected back on Allen Meadows note, couldn't put it better myself. Loads of fun to be had here! Now the 3rd white I've tried from Javillier the thread has been delicacy, transluscence with wonderfully weighted flavours. From Les Clous and Crotots. “Once again, the nose is cool and restrained with its aromas of green fruit, mineral reduction, citrus peel and an interesting hint of quinine. There is fine richness to the enveloping medium weight flavors that exhibit focused po

From Les Casse-Têtes and Meursault Les Murgers de Monthelie. “This is aromatically similar to the Clousots but with more floral elements. There is even better volume and mid-palate density to the muscular medium weight flavors that coat the mouth with dry extract on the overtly powerful finish where a hint of bitter lemon arises. This is a very serious Meursault villages that should amply repay up to a decade of cellaring. This too is recommended. ♥ 2026+ Burghound

A pretty if noticeably reserved nose features a layered assortment of mineral reduction, acacia blossom, lemon rind and freshly sliced Granny Smith apples. The succulent and tautly muscular larger-scaled flavors exhibit plenty of minerality while culminating in a powerful and beautifully persistent finale. This is really quite stylish and could aptly be described as a Corton-Charlemagne of refinement. 2028+ Burghound
