White Blend from Swartland, South Africa
“Twiswind - "to argue with the wind" in Afrikaans - is the maiden release of a brilliant field blend from a 1.4-hectare site planted as recently as 2019. Featuring a medley of Chenin Banc, Cinsault Blanc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Grillo, Marsanne, Palomino, Picpoul, Semillon and Vermentino, it's like a who's who of the Mediterranean, with lime, greengage, grapefruit, quinine and juniper flavours, thrilling acidity and a mineral core. 2027-32.” Tim Atkin MW, 95 Points
Chenin Blanc from Saumur, D'Anjou-Saumur
Chenin. Take the syrup from poached quince and mix it with Créme pâtissière. Entrancing. Lovely, feel like I’m cooking quince. Long fine, excellent acid, draws you in, alive with personality. Bone dry! Phenolics here are interesting, dusty rather than oily. They have a wonderful cleansing feel. Savory with a little oxidative character just enough to add intrigue. Fun. Very good.
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
Stepping up from the Bourgogne level wines in a big way. Building tension length and depth. Again excellent composure, tighter now as it should be. Give this 12 months and you’ll be in a very happy place. Entrancing nice white flowers on grapefruit. A little more energy. Excellent texture, chalky phenolic acid complex that works brilliantly. An edge of grapefruit esque bitterness. A wonderful fine example. The mid-palate depth is the thing that demonstrates the step up in quality here.
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
Here the more expressive nose offers another small step up in aromatic elegance with its cool aromas of spiced jasmine tea, essence of pear and wet stone. The intense and delineated middle weight flavors brim with both dry extract and minerality that coats the palate on the linear and beautifully long finish. This is a classic Tillets of lace and grace. ♥ 2025+Burghound
White Blend from Priorat, Catalunya
Huber's 1er Cru level white steps up to the plate. One of the most fascinating whites I've seen in ages! Vi de Coster, the equivalent of 1er Cru wine. As we have said before, this is one of the most mineral, sculpted whites we know—it tastes as if the wine was tapped directly from pure rock—which of course it was. Forget about how rare white Priorat is, Pedra de Guix gives the great whites of the world a run for their money. This is a blend of three varieties from three villages: Poboleda
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
“The 2022 Meursault Village is ample and generous, wafting from the glass with notes of pear, clear honey, green apple and bread dough. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a rich core of fruit girdled by lively acids, it concludes with a saline finish.” William Kelly, The Wine Advocate 90-92 Points“The 2022 Meursault Village comes from a single parcel just below Chevalier. The generous bouquet offers patisserie, subtle melon and Clementine aromas, very intense yet well-d
Chenin Blanc from Savennières, D'Anjou-Saumur
The 2022 Savennières Clos de Fremine has purity and tranquility; it's a cloud of Chenin Blanc blossoming in the mouth. There were a lot of grapes that didn't make the grade in 2022 due to the hot, dry conditions of the season, but the strict sorting implemented by Boudignon and team appears to have done the trick. The wine is gently fresh, but a salty line provides persistence. An appetizing fragrance of chamomile, honey and nectarine lingers long in the mouth.Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous 94 Poi
Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
A beauty close to perfection. It displays intense, perfectly ripe, healthy and refined raisin fruit on the nose along with tropical hints, herbal notes and dashes of lemon juice, while the stony/mineral expressions remain rather in the background but still add excitement and distinction. On the palate, this is an incredibly juicy, piquant, refined, salty and weightless yet intense Riesling with concentrated but highly stimulating fruit. The finish is long and amazing in its sensual finesse and e
White Blend from Alsace, France
Lovely perfume, faint line of lanolin / wet wool. Restrained and sophisticated lovely mid-palate, graceful yet powerful. Such incredible harmony, this is insanely good.So much going on here. Morphs and evolves in the glass, pear with a savoury layer and beyond reminds me to some degree of the Gobelsburg 3 year in style. Seriously impressive gear.“This effortlessly integrates the rich and creamy, spicy and textural sides of Alsace wines to create a powerful yet animating whole. Lot
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
Layered and charming, the 2023 Meursault Village offers up aromas of waxy citrus rind, sweet orchard fruit, apple blossom and toasted nuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural palate. This will offer a broad drinking window. William Kelly, The Wine Advocate 90-91 PointsThis opens nicely with lime flower, lemon thyme and touches of candle wax on the nose. It has good complexity. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth texture, lightly spiced with a touch of oran
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
The Laffay’s own 26 ares in the Grand Cru Vaudésir. Vaudésir is one of the seven Chablis Grand Cru appellations. Nestled in a natural amphitheater, it covers 15.4 hectares. It benefits from a double exposure similar to that of Valmur. The south-facing slope, which lies in a small sheltered valley, provides optimal ripening conditions. The north-facing slope, however, is cooler and the grapes often mature later. Vaudésir contains a significant amount of clay. The subsoil remains classic, how
White Blend from Soave, Veneto
A remarkable wine 15 years in the making! Calvarino 5 is the first wine of the "Vini dell'Anima" collection. Born from a project by Leonildo Pieropan and his sons Dario and Andrea, it is a blend of five Calvarino vintages (2008-2009-2010-2011-2012) aged for at least 10 years in large cement tanks on lees in the cellar. Ageing this way in Pieropan's cool cellars is slow and controlled. This is a fascinating wine highlighting the incredible results blending across vintages can deliver.Cool
