Roagna Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti 2015

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The 2015 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti lifts from the glass with striking aromatics. Then again, that's Asili. Sweet red berry fruit, mint, blood orange, cinnamon and star anise form a gorgeous latticework of aromas and flavors. The 2015 is gracious, light on its feet and full of Asili seduction, but with that extra kick if tannic bite that is such a Roagna signature. It will be even better once those tannins soften a bit further.Galloni

Bruno Giacosa Barolo 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

All of Giacosa’s Barolo wines are single vineyard offerings, and the same is true for the Classico where all of the fruit in the years it is produced comes from Falletto in Serralunga d’Alba. The most recent vintage of Barolo ‘Classico’ is 2020. In the years where a Barolo ‘Classico’ a Barolo ‘Falletto’ and a Barolo ‘Falletto Vigna Le Rocche’ are all produced concurrently (such as 2016), the fruit for the Barolo ‘Classico’ will usually come from the lower and less expose

Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili 2022

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barbaresco

The Bruno Giacosa 2022 Barbaresco Asili is hitting the market now. It was bottled on the 15th of July, 2024. This elegant wine shows the finely tuned and nuanced essence of Asili with its fine soils. It opens to a bright ruby color and delivers chalky tannins that retain their tension and grippy feel. On the close, you get hints of violets and blue flower. This is a very terroir-driven wine, but it needs more time in bottle to fully express itself. There will be a red label, or Riserva, made in

Terroir al Límit Les Manyes 2021

Garnatxa | Spain, Catalunya

Granatxa = Grenahce. What ever you call it is truly delicious wine filled with personality and intrigue! High in the Montsant ranges, the Manyes vineyard is located at the remarkable altitude of 800 metres (the highest in Priorat). This cool, north-facing vineyard is only 1.4 hectares, and the vines are now about 54-years-old. While Les Tosses is planted to Cariñena on pure llicorella slate, Les Manyes is predominantly clay with elements of quartz and limestone and is planted almost exclusively

The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of cassis, rose petals and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate with a cool core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the floral finish. Especially suave and perfumed, it's reminiscent of a purer, more integrated version of Bouley's 2019. Drink 2030-2050 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 95 Points

The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets is the most elegant, ethereal premier cru in the cellar, wafting from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of raspberries and red plums mingled with bergamot, spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, delicate and pure, with a satiny attack that segues into a layered mid-palate framed by ultra-refined tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. A perfumed and exceptionally pretty, elegant and pure nose speaks of wafting essence of red berries, especially cherry, along with exotic spice and floral wisps. I very much like the texture of the beautifully refined middleweight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that displays excellent length. This could use better depth but that should only be a matter of patience. 2034+ ♥ Sweet spot OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound  (91-94) Point

Les Champonnets, situated on the same line as the Grands Crus and very near to Ruchottes-Chambertin, is tucked up high near the entrance of the Lavaux combe (or valley). Mortet's parcel here used to make up almost half of his 1er Cru bottling above, and 2014 was the first year this parcel was vinified and bottled separately. It comes from a combination of very old vines (60-70 years old) and some younger, at around 30 years old. The soil is deep, yet with a strong limestone component that shows
