Vietti Barolo ‘Rocche di Castiglione’ 2018

Nebbiolo | Castiglione Falletto, Italy

While Vietti's Villero is their Top Wine. This is my favorite! I had a 1997 not long ago that was breathtaking! The 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is suave, silky and caressing right out of the gate. Sumptuous and racy, with silky tannins, the Rocche possesses superb depth and plenty of resonance that builds over time. The 2018 is an especially potent Rocche that is going to need a number of years to unwind. Drink 2028 - 2048 Galloni

Vietti Barolo ‘Brunate’ 2018

Nebbiolo | La Morra, Italy

The 2018 Barolo Brunate is a deep, layered wine that is going to need at least a few years to come together. Today, the Brunate is quite primary and backward, but all the ingredients are there. Sage, menthol, licorice, dried flowers and spice build with a bit of coaxing. Drink 2028 - 2048 Galloni

This is also aromatically really fresh with its blend of dark raspberry, violet and a crushed fennel aromas. The mouthfeel of the slightly richer flavors is also caressing but here there is a subtle minerality on the lacy, balanced and youthfully austere finale that delivers slightly better persistence. Margherita Otto ‘M8’ Barolo MAGNUM 2017

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

This one's another argument for blending sites! From a disciple of Maria Theresa Mascarello. The 2017 M8 is a blend of Castiglione Falletto, Monforte & Serralunga fruit! I rarely buy wine site unseen. I did so with the 2016 M8. I couldn’t resist! The story and experience behind Allan Manley’s launch of his own venture has seen him work with a veritable who’s who of Barolo ending with Maria Theresa Mascarello where he still works. As you might expect he’s a proponent of blended Barolo vs

Freshness and bite combined with elegance. Hugely appealing."Walter Speller, Jancis

The 2015 Riserva Diecianni is a special Brunello, savoury, earthy, with a sweet core of fruit, a little spice and much more beyond. The quality of the tannins, their depth and complexity alone impress. The super-fine-resolved acids offer exceptional energy. At 11 years old this is a Brunello in a beautiful place with much more to come. Flowing with long, even tannins. It represents a significant step up from the already impressive Brunello. Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded June 2026A wond

Nervi-Conterno Gattinara ‘Molsino’ 2016

Nebbiolo | Italy, Alto Piemonte

Richness and generosity, yet freshness’s. Dark, long, fine, generous, composed and long. Still waiting to express its true self. Perhaps with a bottle over a night rather than a taste it would. It clearly has a long life ahead of it. Such incredible length. Starting to opening up in the glass with a little coaxing it is built so impressively. A special wine. The acid and tannin profile will see it hold for many years. Another expression of Nebbiolo that differs from those of Valtellina and Bar

Exuberantly fresh aromas of essence of various red berries with a broader array of spice notes leads to detailed, even chiseled, lighter weight flavors that exude both energy and minerality on the understated, firm and moderately austere finale.Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-92 PointsThe Chatelots vineyard (2.96 hectares) is also close to the town and partly adjoins Les Charmes. As is the case with the Chênes Carteaux, there is a high-toned note of herbal present on the poached plum and sauvage-suffused aromas. I very much like the texture of the tautly muscular yet relatively fine middleweight flavors that exude a bead of minerality on the balanced, youthfully austere and impressively long finale. This is excellent. (from a 1.08 ha mix of younger and older vines that average about 50+ years of age) 2032+ ♥ OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound (91-94) Points
