It hard to talk about Nuits-Saint-Georges without talking about Henri Gouges. For near a century the Domaine has quietly been working away to expand their holding and continually improve their wines."A more deeply pitched and brooding nose only grudgingly reveals its aromas of cassis plum liqueur and pungent earth where the latter is also found on the vibrant and well-detailed big-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence. Oddero Barolo ‘Villero’ 2019

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

One of my favourite Crus.Take the Barolo add 3 more layers for aroma, flavour and tannin. Ramp up the sophistication of the mouthfeel and you're kinda close to where the Villero sits. Awesome side by side with Sordo's Villero. Different in style. Both fantastic wines, you can see the common thread through the two. With fruit from Castiglione Falletto, the 2019 Barolo Villero is graceful and light with a beautifully silky approach to the palate. It is pleasing to the eye, thanks to the

“The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Mont des Oiseaux ler Cru, matured in 35% new oak, has an elegant, quite mineral-driven bouquet that is vivacious and charming (like the 2022). The palate is silky smooth on the entry, very well balanced and unerringly pure, with a light yet energetic finish that has just the right amount of piquancy. This is an underrated cuvée from the Domaine that should not be overlooked.”Neal Martin, Vinous 91-93 Points

Domenico Clerico Barolo ‘Pajana’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

More linear, more tightly coiled than the rest of the 2021 Barolos at this early stage.  Again, elegance, delicacy and transparency. Long even tannin. Slatey, a darkness playing here with tar and roses. Blood and leather, stone. An excellent core of fruit. A bolder Monforte. This is the one to wait for. It needs 10 years in the bottle.  I see the Clerico Barolo 'Pajan' resolving and building into a complete, special wine. It has great density, depth and length combined with a vital freshness.

Roagna Barbaresco Albesani 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The 2017 Barbaresco Albesani is delicate and ethereal. Crushed flowers, sweet dried cherry, cinnamon and orange zest give this deceptively light-bodied Barbaresco a good deal of both nuance and complexity. All the elements are so nicely balanced. All things considered, the 2017 is an understated wine from this Neive site.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 92 Points

Roagna Barolo Pira 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

The 2017 Barolo Pira is a powerful, intensely savory wine. Dark cherry, herbs, leather incense and licorice all add to an impression. The Pira Barolo is one of the most reticent wines in this entire collection. It is hard to read today, despite its obvious weight and character.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 93 Points

Oddero Barolo ‘Brunate’ 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Give it the requisite air time & it reveals all! Given the Oddero style and the commune of La Morra this has all the ingredients need to be an impressive wine, and it is just that. Before I got my head fully around the tannin complex in the Poderi Oddero wines I cracked one of these and thought, shit, that's a bit OTT, just on the tannin side. A third of the bottle coravined out and 1 month later I chucked the rest in a decanter. The transformation blew my mind. All had resolved and harmonised t

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 2022

Pinot Noir | Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy

This is also wonderfully fresh though with more deeply pitched and spicier aromas. There is even better mid-palate density to the delicious, vibrant and velvet-textured flavors that display focused power on the compact, serious and impressively long finale. This is a very good Vosne villages that is worth considering. Top valueAllen Meadows, Burghound 89-92 PointsThe 2022 Vosne-Romanée Village is deeper-pitched than its Chambolle counterpart, evoking dark berries, plums and cherrie
