Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 2017

Here too the aromas of plum, violet and blueberry are super-fresh and expressive. The sleek, intense and beguilingly delicious middle weight flavors exude a subtle minerality onto the firm and relatively serious finish. This is perhaps less elegant than it usually is as it's more structured but it may well compensate by developing even better depth over time. ♥ OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound 89-92 Points Barthod's beautiful 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village reveals an inviting b

Pinot Noir from Volnay, Côte du Beaune

Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Volnay 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Bousse d’Or Amphore’ 2020

This is also aromatically cool but ripe and spicy though in this case the red and dark raspberry scents are notably more floral in character. The delicious, intense and well-detailed lighter weight flavors possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts with the moderately austere and quite firm finale where a touch of sweetness gradually emerges. 2030+Allen Meadows, Burghound

Pinot Noir from Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine de Montille Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru ‘Aux Thorey’ 2020

"A more elegant, cooler and spicier nose reflects notes of the pretty essence of red currant, rose petal and a floral top note. The elegance continues on the palate of the nicely textured and quite punchy flavors that exude evident minerality on the sneaky long and moderately structured finish. As is usually the case, this is a Nuits 1er of refinement and even a certain finesse." Drink 2030+ Outstanding ♥Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 Points

Red Blend from Greve UGA, Chianti Classico

Castello dei Rampolla ‘d’Alceo’ 2018

This show how good Bordeaux blends can be in Italy and just how different they are from their French counterparts! Jumping from 4,000 vines a hectare to 8-10,000. Grown as bush vines. Immediate oppulence and generosity on the nose. The structural element from the tannin are very different from the tannins of Bordeaux, edgy again in a good way.  Such complexity with a layer of macerative characters and the perfume they can offer. Vibrant acidity and flowers from the Petit Verdot. d'Alceo is a wo

Pinot Noir from Beaune, Côte du Beaune

Domaine des Croix Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Pertuisots’ 2022

“The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots is performing especially well this year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries and plums mingled with rose petals, sweet spices and burning embers. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, it's layered and complete, with a lively core of fruit and beautifully refined, powdery tannins.”William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 92-94 Points“The 2022 Beaune Pertuisots 1er Cru, which contains 27% whole bunches, has such a pretty n

Nebbiolo from Commune di Barolo, Barolo

Luciano Sandrone Barolo ‘Le Vigne’ 2019

Bugger! The investors are onto it! An excellent Le Vigne. The restraint in oak use is clever, discrete, just a beuatiful layer. Going back to the 2013 the wood was more overt on release. Today the 2013’s are fully resolved and wonderfully layered. The 2019 is complex, refined & elegant, with vibrant fruit & faded flowerst. A delicacy with great density of fruit. Remaining refreshing. The heart shape of Novello, the faded flowers of Villero the combination of tannin profiles making f

Montepuliciano from Abruzzo, Italy

Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d’Abruzzo ‘Casa Pepe’ 2021

The 2021 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne Casa Pepe is dark and intense. Wet stone and sage hints offset violets and crushed blackberries. It's soothingly round and supple with a wave of ripe blackberries and sour citrus that gives way to an herbal note toward the close. The 2021 finishes with a tinge of saline minerality and fine-grained tannins, tapering off long. A pleasant note of primary concentration makes perfect punctuation.Eric Guido, Vinous 95+ PointsAfter you prepped

Nebbiolo from Castiglione Falletto, Barolo

Paolo Scavino Barolo ‘Bric dël Fiasc’ 2021

The 2021 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Red toned-fruit, chalk, white pepper, dried herbs and exotic citrus notes soar out of the glass. Beams of tannin lend the energy and drive that are such classic signatures of this Castiglione Falletto site. Oddero Barolo ‘Villero’ 2021

One of my favourite Crus.Take the Barolo add 3 more layers for aroma, flavour and tannin. Ramp up the sophistication of the mouthfeel and you're kinda close to where the Villero sits. Awesome side by side with Sordo's Villero. Different in style. Both fantastic wines, you can see the common thread through the two.Compared to the others, the Oddero 2021 Barolo Villero embraces a wider span of aromas that are more horizontal in approach, with dark fruit, licorice and spice. Pinot Noir from Pommard, Côte du Beaune

Domaine Antoine Jobard Pommard 2023

This is also really quite aromatically pretty with its blend of red currant, cherry and slightly more prominent earth influence. On the palate there is again fine volume to the attractively textured flavors that display solid depth and length on the balanced finale where a touch of bitter chocolate character slowly emerges.Allen Meadows, Burghound 88 PointsNote: from a blend of La Rue au Port, Les Combes and Petits Noizons where the latter comprises about 75% of the blend
