Pinot Noir from Macedon, Victoria

Bindi Block Darshan Pinot Noir 2023

The 2023 Block 8 begins with sweet fruits; red and dark cherry and red plum. Rhubarb and undergrowth appear with creaminess and brown spices adding additional complexity. Darshan like low cropping levels provide for a palate that is full to begin, creamy, silky, seamless in tannin flow, very long and structured. The emphatic and deliciously satisfying palate rolls on and on. It will improve for seven years and hold for that time again at the least. Michael D

Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir 2024

The 2024 Block 8 combines rich sweet fruit with earth and savouriness. There's a lot going on here from this powerful close planted site that adjoins Block 5 as it sweeps north. Paradoxically, it is both deeply flavoured and closed at the same time. Ripe red and dark cherry and plum are evident with sweet gingerbread spices working with undergrowth and meatiness. The palate is rich and full, creamy, juicy, savoury, expansive and long. Seven plus years cellaring will be advantageous to begin with

Pinot Noir from Rully, Côte Chalonnaise

Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Rouge 1er Cru ‘Chapitre’ 2022

A cool and exuberantly spicy dark berry-suffused nose is quite floral and in particular with violet hints. The sleek, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere, punchy and well-balanced finale. This needs to add depth at least a few years of cellaring are recommended. Pinot Noir from Beaune, Côte du Beaune

Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru ‘Les Perrières’ 2020

"An overtly floral and spice-suffused nose is a bit more deeply pitched with mostly notes of poached plum and black cherry liqueur. There is better vibrancy to the precise and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that display fine length on the dusty, even chalky, and youthfully austere finish that is notably firmer. Fine quality here."Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 Points

Shiraz/Syrah from Côte-Rôtie, Northern Rhône

François Villard Côte-Rôtie ‘Gallet Blanc’ 2016

Côte-Rôtie with incredible energy, definition, and intrigue. So many layers of pleasure. François is making stunning wine. From a 20 year old chef to a vigneron with over 30 years experience his wine wisdom shows. Stylistically you'll find great density in his Côte-Rôtie with fruit from the Northen half, the Côte-Brune coming from several Lieux Dits. The Côte-Brune is known to produce more masculine wines that the Côte-Blonde. The 2016 vintage shows a lovely, Classic, balance amongst the

Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Chambolle-Musigny 2019

Ripe, elegant and softly spicy aromas include those of various dark berries, violet, lavender and a hint of exotic tea. There is again fine volume to the caressing but punchy medium weight flavors that possess a more sophisticated texture but not necessarily better depth on the youthfully austere finale. Note that there is enough underlying material as well as supporting tannins to suggest that this should add complexity with a few years of bottle age.Allen Meadows, Burghound 89 Points ♥ O

Exceptional line and length and the tannins are so long, fine and even. Red and dark fruit a little licorice. So fine. Incredible complex savoury roasted barbecued vegetables & a line of earthiness. Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune

Domaine Blain-Gagnard Volnay ‘Champans’ 2019

"A markedly cool nose, and particularly so in the context of the 2019 vintage, reflects notes of essence of red berries, lavender, tea and a hint of newly turned earth. There is more refinement if not density to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced, youthfully austere and solidly persistent finish that is quite firmly structured. This is relatively fine for Champans and a wine that should age gracefully. ♥"Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-
