Giuseppe Cortese Langhe Nebbiolo MAGNUM 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

A Langhe Nebb made from young vine Rabajà .. Yes it's true! Always a fun wine. Elegant and juicy fruited, with solid core of fruit wrapped in chewy tannins. It’s a playful Langhe. Typically perfumed with a savoury twang, a little orange. Loads of fun to be had here. Always better after an extra year in bottle & a good decant. Will reward 2-5 years patience.Even his Langhe Neb is young vine Rabajà!

Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette 'Vielles Vignes Sable' MAGNUM 2022
Ridiculous Yields!
I haven't had a chance to taste these and reviews aren't out yet. Given the consistency and the comments on the vintage below from Bouland and Morris they're just a no brainer. One of the wineries I buy from each year without hesitation. Expect them to have an extra degree of sophistication compared with other recent releases. Wine specific importer notes below.Even Bouland himself struggled to find fault in his wines from what is an outstanding vintage for Beaujolais. “I’m not co

Vietti Castiglione Barolo 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Show the class of the vineyards and the winemakers! The 2017 Barolo Castiglione is a wild, exotic wine. Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, tobacco, new leather and rose petal all flesh out in this ample, voluptuous Barolo from Vietti. The 2017 is a wine of significant heft hidden behind a wall of tannin. Give it a few years to soften or open it well in advance. Time brings out striking translucence as well as finesse. Drink 2025-2037. GalloniLuca and Elana are consistently showing the

Higher elevation and shift in soil offer a more vertical and mineral style.Xarel-Lo’s gentle bitterness is a perfect balancing agent where acid may be more prominent in Champagne, a lacing of phenolics and elegant bitterness work beautifully in Recaredo’s Corpinnats.Again the oxidative bruised apple and Vino di Pasto cereal flavours come out to play with green leafy herbs. There’s loads of energy and tension as fragrant and perfumed notes come out to play. Beautifully textured

Barale Barbaresco ‘Serraboella’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Neive, Barbaresco

Super vibrant and energetic with long even fruit of class and a little perfume Feels like a little more precision here in the 2021. Savoury with a lick of blood. Classy fruit an excellent wine. Refined tannins. Opens and settles beautifully in the glass. Very, very good.Tasted from cask, Barale's 2021 Barbaresco Serraboella is bold, juicy and quite expressive. I imagine more nuance will develop in time. At this early stage, the 2021 possesses notable depth and plenty of textural intensit

Dureuil’s village Rully is drawn from three organically managed plots—Le Meix Cadot, Rosey and Montagne de Remenot—which cover just under three hectares in total. The average age of these vines is now 50 years. Janthial uses a Jayer-esque pre-ferment cold soak to extract the prettiest aromas and softer tannin. Touchstone Rully.

Discreet wood influence surrounds the ripe aromas of just turned earth and poached plum. The supple, delicious and pliant medium weight flavors are not particularly dense but they still manage to be seductive, which contrasts noticeably with the frankly rustic if lingering finish. This should also repay short to mid-term keeping. Drink 2027+Allen Meadows, Burghound 88 PointsThe 2022 Rully Rouge Village is a blend of three parcels. Cascina Luisin Barabaresco ‘Asili’ 2016

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The fruit for this wine comes from the mostly south-facing aspect of the Asili cru, with an average vine age of 55 years. The winemaking is similar to the other Barbarescos. This is perhaps the most compelling of the Luisin Barbarescos, with a textbook Nebbiolo red colour and an intriguing bouquet of so many elements that all come together in harmony. Classic varietal characters of liquorice root, rose petal and anise, alongside brighter fruit aromas of pomegranate, cherry and raspberry, with

La Ca’ Növa Barbaresco ‘Montestefano’ 2022

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The 2022 Barbaresco Montestefano is superb. A dark, mysterious wine, the 2022 presents an exotic mélange of dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mint, spice, licorice, leather and graphite. More than anything else, I am impressed by how much site character is present.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94 Points

Fèlsina Chianti Classio Riserva DOCG ‘Rancia’ 2017

Sangiovese | Castelnuovo Berardenga, Italy

The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is incredibly polished and sophisticated. Silky tannins give the 2017 its racy, sleek personality. Over the last year, the 2017 has really settled into a gorgeous place. There is plenty of vintage 2017 intensity, but Rancia is distinctly medium in body and restrained. The wilder side of Sangiovese, one of the signatures of Rancia and Fèlsina more broadly, tastes a bit baked out. I can't wait to see how the 2017 develops over the coming years and decades.
