Ruché from Monforte d'Alba, Barolo
Well here's a fascinating drink! I've not had a Ruchè AKA Ruchet AKA Rouchet AKA Moscatellina before. I wonder how Rinaldi ended up with this in the mix and the history of the vineyard.The synonym Moscatellina is perhaps the one that first drew my gaze when smelling this. It does have some Muscat like aromas, I almost felt like I was smelling a pretty decent bitters. Galloni is on the mark with his discription. Before trying it myself I though perhaps he was having a Rinaldi Fan Boy moment.
Delicious. A finessed development sees this out to play. The definition, precision and tension are impressive. The build in mid-palate weight is clearly a sign of quality fruit. A unique Soave, this wine along with Il Corincino's Verdicchio 'Gaiospino' was one of the first two wines that sparked my interest in Italian wine. The age of the vineyards is reflected in the depth of fruit. Fragrant, polished and vibrant right out of the gate, the 2020 Barolo Castiglione displays beautifully-lifted notes of crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint, white pepper and orange peel. Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
Show the class of the vineyards and the winemakers! Excellent Barolo. The delicacy and restraint here is exceptional. The core of transparent fruit is insane. Depth, purity and such incredible clarity. A soft hand yields incredibly fine, long, even nutty tannin. Showing wonderful expression and generosity in its youth. Plenty more to come with time in bottle. Flowers, blood orange, rhubarb, red fruits. Mid-palate tannin of exceptional quality. A dark broody layer folded in. Impeccable blending.

Well, here's something a little bit tasty. 17+ year old Rioja and in fine form. Access to gear with a little age on it is a treat! Moving into a more blue fruited profile over the 2022 Artuke 'Paso Las Mãnas', plush long even mouthfeel, nutty ripe tannins, a little savoury play. Beautifully balanced with super fine long acid. A faint lick of oak tannin adding evenness to the tannin profile. 100% Temp from 750-800mm ASL. Plenty more to come as this builds and lengthen with time. Boldest, most immediately generous of this set of 2022's. Red and blue fruited. Carries through to the palate. Building in the glass. Friendly, so easy to drink.
