The E. Pira e Figli - Chiara Boschis 2021 Barolo Mosconi is structured, linear and ultimately quite mineral in character compared to the Cannubi. Its firm underlying architecture is rendered light and fragrant thanks to aromas of blue flower, grilled herb (with both rosemary and aniseed) and pulverized stone. Fruit comes from a site in Monforte d'Alba at a cool 370 meters in elevation. I came back to this bottle 24 hours after my first tasting and remarked on the elegant, chalky nature of the ta

The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots is dense and impressively concentrated in a vintage where that's far from the norm, offering up aromas of cherries, cassis and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and layered palate structured around chalky tannins.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 91-93 PointsThe 2023 Beaune Pertuisots ler Cru shows a little reduction on the nose, but it is armed with pretty blueberry and raspberry fruit that blossoms in the glass. The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes wafts from the glass with notes of sweet wild berries, orange zest and peonies, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and mineral palate with a textural core of fruit framed by fine, powdery tannins.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 92-94 PointsElegant, cool and restrained aromas of layered red cherry, anise, floral and a whiff of exotic tea give way to super-sleek and strikingly textured flavors that contrast noticeably with the compact, you

A ripe and naturally exotic nose features notes of Asian-style tea, anise, white peach and a whiff of fennel. The relatively generously proportioned medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the very dry and youthfully austere finish that also possesses a touch of bitter citrus character. Lovely juice and this is really quite classy. 2028+ (from an incredible 2.7 ha holding which makes Bouchard the largest owner).Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 Points

This is also aromatically cool but ripe and spicy though in this case the red and dark raspberry scents are notably more floral in character. The delicious, intense and well-detailed lighter weight flavors possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts with the moderately austere and quite firm finale where a touch of sweetness gradually emerges. 2030+Allen Meadows, Burghound

"A more elegant, cooler and spicier nose reflects notes of the pretty essence of red currant, rose petal and a floral top note. The elegance continues on the palate of the nicely textured and quite punchy flavors that exude evident minerality on the sneaky long and moderately structured finish. As is usually the case, this is a Nuits 1er of refinement and even a certain finesse." Drink 2030+ Outstanding ♥Allen Meadows, Burghound 91-93 Points

“The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Pertuisots is performing especially well this year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries and plums mingled with rose petals, sweet spices and burning embers. Paolo Scavino Barolo ‘Bric dël Fiasc’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Castiglione Falletto

The 2021 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Red toned-fruit, chalk, white pepper, dried herbs and exotic citrus notes soar out of the glass. Beams of tannin lend the energy and drive that are such classic signatures of this Castiglione Falletto site. “The 2021 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers is every bit the equal of its 2019 and 2020 counterparts, unwinding in the glass with attractive aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, rose petals and confit orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and supple palate that's succulent and mouthwatering, with melting tannins and a saline finish.” William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 93 Points

There are 2 vineyards that are talked of when the best of Pommard is discussed. Les Épenots and Les Rugiens. It’s clear tasting Thierry's interpretations of these vineyards that there is merit in those discussion. The 2016 Les Rugien is exceptional. Darker, tighter and more structured than the Epenots while there is an extra edge to the tannins they are of very high quality. The oak is handled well again with just a fine sweep across nose and palate, nothing overt or distracting from a won
