“The 2022 Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru blends its reductive, flinty smokiness with lemon zest on the nose. With more air, white and yellow peach start smiling through and get stronger and juicier on the palate. The pale peach juiciness appears in full purity on the palate, framed with a pleasantly astringent pithiness that makes the mouth water. More peach and fruit and in freshness are just within reach. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box, bursting from the glass with a tour de force of cloves, cinnamon sticks, mint, lavender, dried strawberries and freshly sliced vanilla bean. The Fuligni 2018 Brunello di Montalcino stands out for its smooth integration of aromas and the carefully balanced intensity achieved here, which shows momentum but also remains very fine and nuanced. There are many sides to the bouquet with wild fruit, cassis, crushed stone, candied orange and fresh herbs or rosemary. A floral note also appears that suggests rose or iris root. With its decidedly green and spicy bouquet, the 2022 Pecorino is impossible to ignore. Lime zest and tropical melon give way to crushed Granny Smith apples and chamomile aromas. This is beautifully balanced, fruit-centric and intense. Silken waves of citrus-infused orchard fruits cascade beneath an air of sweet inner florals. Pinot Noir from Pommard, Côte du Beaune
Rounder, plusher than the 2016. A lovely differentiation between vintage that still sees the qualities of clearly very fine house at play. None of the reduction Meadows noted on first release is present now. A little more time is needed for this to show it’s full colours at the moment. A little more savoury with the same fruit energy at play. As seems to be the case for the Domaine there is a harmony that you don’t always see in Burgundy. Superb drinking.

A mildly toasty nose is comprised by notes of red and dark cherry, raspberry and newly turned earth. The rich and caressing medium weight flavors are at once succulent but powerful while delivering fine length on the decidedly firm but not really austere finale. Fascinating drinking here. More down the strawberry line. With excellent harmony. This is divine, violets and underlying savoury notes. Another excercise in textural difference. Arvelet so even fine and plush, derrière building in structure, Fremier super high quality tannins with a very slight mid-palate prominence and wonderful length of tannin.Drinking these wines side by side is a demonstration in the diversity of Pommard, a celebration of the differences between vineyards.
