Everything in it's place and a place for everything, and, there is lot's of things! The 2023 Dolcetto d'Alba is a gorgeous, quirky wine. Exotic flowers, spice, leather, licorice and cool, blue-toned fruits are all laced together in the glass. The 2023 was done with 60% stems, as is the custom here. The Burlotto Dolcetto remains one of the most distinctive wines in all of Piedmont.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 91 Points
Excellent perfume, great delicacy with deceptive weight, sophisticated, feminine, long fine texture, slatey delicious tannins. Savoury dark edge. Delicious thirst quenching excellent elevage. Fun wine. Fine excellent cherries.
The 'Side Project' of ex-Bruno Giacosa's winemaker Francesco Versio this is a stunner! Given Francesco used to make wine at Bruno Giacosa it is hardly surprising that he knocks out a solid Dolcetto. Giacosa being known as arguably the best maker of the variety. Co-incidentally the last Dolcetto I had, a few days before this, was a Bruno Giacosa made by Francesco, and, it was one of the best Dolcetto I've had the pleasure of devouring. The Dogliani DOCG covers some broad territory. Often of mu
Erbaluce from Gattinara, Alto Piemonte
If you've never tried Erbaluce before this is a bloody good place to start!Like Timorasso & Nascetta this is a varietal to watch!Tasting the 2020 it was clear that like Cogno's Nascetta, Antoniolo's Erbaluce benefits from a hear in bottle to settle.Notes on the 20202nd Taste Oct 2022 - Very Good, super racy zippy acid coming together nicely resolved filled out. Looks good fun crisp. Perfect summer drinking. Elevage is there. Spice, the overt traminer, savvy b herbaceous t
Nebbiolo from Gattinara, Alto Piemonte
So pretty, floral and pleasantly sweet, the 2020 Vino Rosato Bricco Lorella makes itself known with a bouquet of peach skins and pear complemented by hints of wet stone and flowery undergrowth. This soothes with a display of ripe fruits offset by hints of candied citrus, all carried across a wave of juicy acidity. Nothing seems out of place as the Bricco Lorella tapers off wonderfully refreshing but also reverberating with residual acids. This is a gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo Rosato from Gat
Gamay Noir from Chiroubles, Beaujolais
Super soft and pliant. Silky caressing flow with excellent mid palate weight complimented by baking spices / darker plummy fruits. A little lick of florals & violets.

Pinot Blanc from Alsace, France
Base 2019, this is fun! Lovely set of flavours with an entrancing perfume. Crisp with cut. 3 years on lees disgorged November 2022 with a 2g/l. 12 months on it’s in a great place. Layered, with a finely textured mousse. Time in bottle and glass sees it resolved and out to play. Excellent mid-palate weight. Full of interest and intrigue with all of the development and textural refinement you would expect from a decent bottle of champagne at half the price!60% Auxerrois, 20% Pinot Blanc an
Thrilled to be able to offer my thoughts on this special wine. Lunch with the full current release set from La Rioja Alta was thrilling. The wines are a demonstration of respect for the past and judicious use of modern technology combined with an approach that offer a style reminiscent of a refreshed classic. No fads here! The Ardanza is a ridiculous value. Coming on 10 years old. This is very good. The harmony and grape first tannin with layering of very subtle oak that wraps rather than in
With each step up through the range, the oak sophistication increases. Whilst clearly present in the Ardanza, it is much more sophisticated texturally. The 2019 Ardanza has a fresh line of acid. It's tight and quite vertical. Just starting to resolve. It still needs time to build expression and generosity. Saline with blue fuits. Linear shape and flow with excellent transparency. It's be intriguing to sit on a bottle over a couple of days and see where it ended up.Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded May
Gamay Noir from Morgon, Beaujolais
This wine used to come to us simply as Morgon Vieilles Vignes without the name of the vineyard or lieu-dit (it is now labelled Morgon Les Délys Vignes plantées en 1926). It comes from a single hectare of 100-year-old vines located on the Morgon-Chiroubles border at the end of the Corcelette valley—a terroir historically known as Délys. The old, gnarled vines sit on a southeast-facing slope, planted at 10,000 vines per hectare. As always, this is likely to be Bouland’s most age-worthy w
