Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Goldkapsel is alive with citrus foliage, zest and the sweetest fruit aromas. Its tanginess tingles on the nose and continues right on the palate. Vivid freshness and poise define pale white peach flesh on the palate, tempered by a gorgeous, tangy orange peel note that attains a subtle edge of candy. The 2024 is superbly fine, stony, linear and, of course, delicious. It is so poised and clean. Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous 97 Points

"Dry Wine of the Vintage!" Jean Fisch & David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines AP: 17 21. The 2020er Marienburg Fahrlay GG, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks from fruit harvested in a blue slate part of the Marienburg vineyard. It offers a superb nose made of lemon zest, white flowers, raspberry, fine spices, and herbs. The wine is beautifully precise and playful on the nicely dry palate and leaves a superb feel of fresh fruits and su

The Marienburg GG Fahrlay 2023, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks from fruit harvested in a blue slate part of the Marienburg vineyard. Still slightly reductive at first, it quickly shows a refreshing and pure nose of citrusy fruits, minty herbs, aniseed, almond, vineyard peach, and jasmine. The wine is pure and vibrating, as energetic and taut notes of citrusy fruits run through the palate. The finish is beautifully fr
Riesling from Rheinhessen, Germany
RR refers to Riesling from red soils – a half-hectare parcel within Kirchspiel that gives fruit that is a little more spicy than fruit that goes into Von der Fels. This parcel doesn't always ferment to complete dryness, as was the case in 2022, where it has also been blended with some top parcels from Abtserde and Morstein (usually destined for the GGs) that also didn't ferment totally dry. The resulting blend is just off-dry, with around 12 g/L of residual sugar, making this RR a serious exam

The Wehlener Auslese had everything. The 2022er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese has a beautifully engaging and captivating nose of fresh herbs, white mint, bergamot, yellow flowers, pineapple, candied grapefruit, smoke, and juniper. The wine has great presence and is still on the sweeter side on the palate, where ripe yellow and slightly honeyed fruits with a touch of exotic presence come through. The finish is slightly broader yet captivating and hugely long. The aftertaste shows candied gr

"AP: 05 19. The 2018er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 05 was harvested at 93° Oechsle in the Nikolausley and Gerdsgrub and was fermented down to fully fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. The wine offers a gorgeous nose dried herbs, hay, greengage, whipped cream, and smoky elements. Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
AP: 05 21. The 2020er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 05 was made essentially from grapes harvested in the Gerdsgrub and Fergert sectors of the vineyard and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. It proves still rather backward and marked by residual scents from its spontaneous fermentation. After a while subtly apricot-infused flavors of melon, cassis, blueberry, blackberry, and aniseed herbs emerge from the glass. The wine proves subtle, intensely cream, and nic

The 2022er Marienburg GG Falkenlay, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks from fruit harvested in a grey-slate infused part of the Marienburg vineyard. This white-hay-colored wine offers a superb even if still rather reduced nose made of pear, floral elements, a hint of herbs, and reductive scents of spices and wet stone. It proves beautifully focused and impeccably balanced on the palate and leaves a simply stunningly airy, inte

Riesling from Mosel, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
A beauty close to perfection. It displays intense, perfectly ripe, healthy and refined raisin fruit on the nose along with tropical hints, herbal notes and dashes of lemon juice, while the stony/mineral expressions remain rather in the background but still add excitement and distinction. On the palate, this is an incredibly juicy, piquant, refined, salty and weightless yet intense Riesling with concentrated but highly stimulating fruit. The finish is long and amazing in its sensual finesse and e

Aged on the lees for two years or longer, the 2019 Marienburg Rothenpfad Reserve is precise and intense on the concentrated, elegant and finely spicy nose with fermented green pepper, mango and delicate sur lie aromas. Round and textured on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and lush, concentrated yet juicy Riesling with crystalline acidity and lingering salinity.
