Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
This is also suffering from post-bottling reduction so some air would be helpful if you're going to crack a bottle young. More interesting are the slightly sleeker middleweight flavors that also possess a seductive mouthfeel while delivering solid depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This should also repay up to a decade of keeping though unlike the Chenevottes, it's a wine that will need at least a few years of bottle aging first. Drink: 2029+Allen Meadows, Burghound 91 Points
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has impressive purity on the nose, with very well-defined scents of lemon, orange pith and apple blossom. The palate has a powerful, weighty opening. This has a lot of concentration, with tropical notes coming through toward the finish, though the previous vintage had a little more tension. Give this a couple of years in bottle to be tamed.Neal Martin, Vinous 89-91 PointsThe 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenev
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
This quasi-monopole that was reclaimed from scrubland high on the slope in the 1950s and '60s is a terrific terroir that tends to age at a glacial pace, and the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru En Virondot is a promising rendition. Wafting from the glass with notes of citrus zest and crisp stone fruit mingled with white flowers, wet stones and hazelnuts, it's medium to full-bodied, chiseled and racy, with a tightly wound core and a long, mineral finish.William Kelley, The Wine Adv
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Côte du Beaune
“This is perhaps even cooler and more restrained with its layered array of various dark berries, plum, freshly turned earth and a whiff of violet. The mid-palate mouthfeel of the middleweight plus flavors is quite refined yet this contrasts substantially with the moderately rustic, dusty, austere and serious finale. This very powerful and compact effort is expressly built-to-age and is one that is definitely going to need it, indeed I would be surprised if it is approachable before 10 years ha
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Côte du Beaune
Pavelot's Top wine rates as one of the few remaining bargains in Burgundy! This is at once the spiciest and the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its ripe yet ultra-fresh nose of various dark berries, anise and newly turned earth scents. The mouthfeel is also intriguing as it combines excellent density with an appealing sleekness that carries over to the mineral-driven, powerful and compact finale that is wonderfully persistent if very clearly built-to-age. This is almost always Pavel

About Faiveley Based in Nuits-St-Georges, the famous Domaine Faiveley was founded in 1825 and in more recent times, the domaine has greatly expanded its vineyards across the entire Côte d’Or. The grapes are entirely destemmed and fermented in a mix of new wooden vats for the top end wines and stainless steel for the lesser […]
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
“The 2023 Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with dried honey, almond and walnut scents blossoming in the glass. The palate is very well defined, with gorgeous apricot and Clementine notes, a silver bead of acidity and a poised finish that belies that slightly higher alcohol content. It’s very long and enticing.”Neal Martin, Vinous 93-95 PointsNotes of white flowers, peach and nutmeg introduce the 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots, a medium to full-bodied, layered and
Chardonnay from Meursault, Côte du Beaune
An attractively layered nose combines notes of pear, apple, lemon zest and a touch of matchstick character, all of which is again trimmed in subtle but not imperceptible wood. The succulent and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors aren't as concentrated or powerful possess though they are noticeably finer on the sappy and balanced finale this is dry in the best sense. Lovely stuff that is really quite classy. ♥ Sweet spot OutstandingAllen Meadows, Burghound 91-94 PointsThe 2023
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte du Beaune
“The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has more mineralité on the nose than other Premier Crus from the domaine. Crushed chalk and flinty scents permeate the subtle yellow plum and jasmine aromas. The palate is tensile from the start, with intense orange pith and apricot notes and a complex, quite persistent finish. There is a sense of completeness here that is already present. Bon vin.”Neal Martin, Vinous 92-94 PointsDiscreet wood influence is present on the
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Côte du Beaune
Les Santenots is one of the top 1er Cru sites of Volnay. Here, the clay-rich soils gift wines of perfumed depth and silken structure. To give you some idea of the site’s quality, many years ago we asked Benjamin Leroux if there was one vineyard in Volnay he would like to work with, and he replied Santenots without hesitation, mentioning that he buys the wine of this vineyard from his friend Dominique Lafon each year. Of course, he then went on to speak about Rugiens and Caillerets (the most re
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Côte du Beaune
“An agreeably fresh nose is more floral still with its notes of lavender and violet along with a plenitude of spice hints of spice suffusing the black cherry and dark currant scents. The rich, delicious and markedly punchy medium-bodied flavors possess evident minerality yet no lack of power that seems to build on the wonderfully persistence, balanced and textured finale. This is very much built-to-repay extended keeping which is a good thing as more depth would raise its attractiveness." ♥
Pinot Noir from Beaune, Côte du Beaune
This one of the more floral-suffused wines in the range with its hints of violet, rose petal and lavender that add touch of elegance to the very ripe poached plum scents that presently lack a bit of freshness. There is verve and freshness on the palate of the dense, voluminous and punchy flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm tannins shaping the powerful, serious and mildly warm finale. Note that my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that t
