A ripe yet agreeably fresh nose freely reveals its aromas of mostly red berries and discreet spice elements. The sleek, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors conclude in a dusty bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that exhibits solid length if only average depth. This one of the more floral-suffused wines in the range with its hints of violet, rose petal and lavender that add touch of elegance to the very ripe poached plum scents that presently lack a bit of freshness. There is verve and freshness on the palate of the dense, voluminous and punchy flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm tannins shaping the powerful, serious and mildly warm finale. Weber noted that they protected the vines with warming pots that allowed for a yield of about 22 hl/ha. More obvious oak influence stops short of fighting with the spicy and earthy purple fruit-scented nose.
