Why is this Wine so Yummy?

A blend of two fantastic Upper Yarra Pinot sites in Gladysdale and Macclesfield. All natural ferments with 25% whole bunch plus an average of 15-20 days on skins. Aged for 10 months in French oak Barrique’s and Puncheons (10% new). Bottled by gravity, un-fined and unfiltered.

Tasting notes: The wine pours out a bright ruby red colour and has high notes of cherry liqueur and raspberry fruit. There’s also complex aromas of roasted chicory and chinese five spice. The palate is round and lush with cherry cola and red berry flavours. Its silky smooth on the mid palate with spice and complex flavours. Sappy tannins fanning out to finish.

This Pinot is beautiful and an absolute pleasure to drink now, but will reward cellaring also.

In the Vineyard

Coming from the duplex soils (red volcanic and mud stone loams) of Macclesfield this was the ideal site for the season. Dijon clone 76’ reacted well to the cooler weather on this site and resulted in a detailed and generous fruit.
