A discreet but not invisible hint of volatile acidity adds lift to the well-layered nose of black cherry, violet, lavender and subtle earth and spice hints. The muscular and energetic broad-shouldered flavors offer excellent punch and depth on the driving and firmly structured finish. Assuming that the VA remains at its current level, it shouldn't be more than a background element.Allen Meadows, Burghound

A cool, pure and relatively high-toned nose combines aromas of essence of red cherry, lilac, violet, lavender and plenty of earth character. There is better concentration to the nicely powerful and muscular flavors that culminate in a robust finale and while the finish still comes across as grippy, the tannins seem riper.Burghound

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, cinnamon, peonies, orange rind and raw cocoa. Medium-bodied, fine-boned and lively, it's bright and nicely concentrated, with youthfully chalky tannins and a saline finish. As usual, this is one of the more tightly wound premiers crus in the range, with an elegant, rather ethereal profile, and it will reward bottle age.William Kelley, Parker's Wine Advocate

From a higher-altitude site located in a former quarry, Lignier's 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots unwinds in the glass with aromas of earthy wild berries, cherries, licorice and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's lively and precise, with a more tightly wound, lower-pH profile than the Riotte.William Kelley, Parker's Wine Advocate 92-94 Points AM 91-94 ♥ Sweet spot Outstanding

Here too the nose is fresh, bright and quite pretty with its essence of red pinot fruit, spice and floral nuances. The supple and generous yet punchy medium-bodied flavors also possess an appealing mouthfeel as well as more evident minerality on the ever-so-mildly austere finale.Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-91 PointsThe Chatelots vineyard (2.96 hectares) is also close to the town and partly adjoins Les Charmes. The topsoil is deeper and more alluvial, with plenty of small stones. This

A more deeply pitched nose proffers its aromas of plum, black cherry, anise, floral and discreet exotic tea wisps. Gorgeously textured and caressing middle weight flavors possess both good richness and punch while displaying a very subtle bead of minerality that adds a sense of lift on the compact and lingering if ever-so-mildly tangy finale.Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-92 PointsNote: from a .75 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines

Elegant, pure and airy aromas include those of red and dark currant plus similar hints of exotic tea and crushed anise. The delicious and lilting medium weight flavors are not especially dense but do offer evident minerality that seems to become more prominent on the balanced and moderately firm finale.Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-93 Points “The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Noirots 1er Cru has a pretty, floral, sprightly and carefree bouquet with hints of Morello cherry and crushed s

“There is a lovely depth of color here, and the perfume is enticing with its boysenberry fruit and chalky minerality. The palate has a lovely depth of ripeness, precise and fine tannins and elegant, refreshing length. This is one of the prettiest Clos des Fôrets St-Georges I have ever tasted.” Christine Canterbury MW, Tim Atkin MW Burgundy Special Report 94 Points“Dense red to crimson. One of the most profound Clos des Forêts I've had from Arlot! Great core of dark fruit. Lovely tannins 100% destemmed after starting in 2021 with destemming. Very complete wine. Showing great touch. That lovely balance that sees it in a style between Gevrey and Vosne-Romanée. Plush, fine & super long. Perfumed with roses and delicate spice. Soft fine. Immediate approachability yet this will clearly offer so much more with time in bottle. Give this 7 years and you’ll be happy give it 15 a

This is also aromatically really fresh with its blend of dark raspberry, violet and a crushed fennel aromas. The mouthfeel of the slightly richer flavors is also caressing but here there is a subtle minerality on the lacy, balanced and youthfully austere finale that delivers slightly better persistence. Pinot Noir | Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy

Sometimes when your vineyard is surround that's OK especially when it's surrounded by DRC! I've had the pleasure of drinking La Grande Rue a couple of times. It's the benchmark wine of the estate that sits across a tiny laneway from LaTâche. La Grande Rue is sensual, feminine, with an incredible perfume, and silky texture. A special wine indeed.Vosne-Romanée tensd to be a bit of mixed bag of the haves and have nots. Lamarche is a have!Nicole, François' daughter has been in charge of t
