Denis Mortet Fixin Vielles Vignes 2023

Pinot Noir | France, Burgundy

A blend of two parcels in Brochon, the 2023 Fixin Vieilles Vignes was vinified with 70% whole bunch. It has an open, transparent nose with red berry fruit infused with chalky aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and again defined by that stony/chalky element. Strict and in some ways uncompromising, this will appeal to those seeking a more sapid Fixin. Neal Martin, Vinous 88-90 PointsHere the nose is more floral still with its distinctly cool, airy and pretty aromas of violet, plum and

Domaine Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin 2019

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

Cracking example of Gevrey-Chambertin. There’s a theme through Louis Boillot’s wines of harmony, and, delicacy with intensity. "From eight different lieux-dits and averaging over sixty years of age. The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has fulfilled all the promise it showed from barrel, bursting with aromas of wild berries, cherries, sweet spices, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant, it's deep and concentrated, with a seamless profile and a saline finish. It'

There's a theme through Louis Boillot's wines of harmony, and, delicacy with intensity. The old iron fist in the velvet glove. The reduction Meadows noted is all but gone now and the fruit is showing fine form. A lovely shape to the palate with that true to domain plush, supple tannin. A wine of great precision and expression.

Denis Mortet Marsannay ‘Les Longeroies’ 2022

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

“The 2022 Marsannay Les Longeroies was cropped at 35hL/ha as the vines are naturally low cropping due to the limestone soils. With around 50% whole bunches, this has an attractive nose with brambly black fruit, sous-bois and a touch of Japanese nori. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. The 10% new oak is very judicious, and there’s a harmonious and persistent finish. A superb Marsannay.”Neal Martin, Vinous 91-93 Points"Aromas of plums, red berries and peony int

Domaine Louis Boillot Chambolle-Musigny 2021

Pinot Noir | France, Burgundy

“Once again, the expressive nose is exceptionally pretty with its array of rose petal, exotic spice and layered crushed red berry nuances. I very much like the mid-palate texture of the barely middleweight flavors that contrasts somewhat with a lingering finish where a touch of asperity slowly emerges.” Allen Meadows, Burghound 88-90 Points JM 88-91

Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-Saint-Denis 2017

Pinot Noir | Morey-Saint-Denis, Burgundy

I first tried Hubert Lignier's wines back in the 1990's & have never looked back! Lignier is one of the latest to release their wines. The extra year really makes a difference as the wines resolve and come together. The Morey-Saint-Denis has the hallmark red fruit of the village. The depth and length are exceptional, what really makes this wine are the wonderfully refined texture, purity and vitality. It charms and entices you as the aromas with some background florals and spice lift from the

Domaine Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin ‘La Justice’ 2017

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

This is what Pinot is like when everything comes together! Here too the nose of both red and dark cherry, earth and humus is on the toasty side. The sleek, refined and vibrant lighter weight flavors exhibit fine detail on the lingering and much better balanced finish. This is a bit light but it is undeniably pretty.Burghound

Domaine Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin ‘La Justice’ 2018

Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

This is what Pinot is like when everything comes together! The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice (négoce) bursts with aromas of plums, berries, peonies and undergrowth. Medium to full-bodied, supple and textural, it's broad and sumptuous, framed by fine-grained tannins. Lignier told me that the vines in this parcel really suffered in the drought, and even though it came in at a classical 13.1% alcohol, it's comparatively high in pH.William Kelley, Parker's Wine Advocate
