Pinot Noir from Vosne-Romanée, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Grand Cru ‘Echezeaux’ 2019

This was one of the few wines in the line-up to display any appreciable reduction and in this case it's enough to mask the underlying fruit. The suave, round and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing texture yet there is good underlying power to the acceptably long and complex finale. This seemed slightly out of sorts though I suspect that it will better harmonize once in bottle.Allen Meadows, Burghound 90-93 Points

Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Faiveley ‘Mazis Chambertin’ Grand Cru 2020

Mazi is alway a favourite. Hugely long yet impeccably well-balanced! The 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is deep and brooding, unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries, peonies, loamy soil and sweet soil tones. Full-bodied, ample and velvety, its concentrated core of fruit is framed by rich, powdery tannins and succulent acids. It's a worthy follow-up to the brilliant 2019.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 93-95+ BH 92-94

Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Cuvée 1859’ MAGNUM 2022

Moderate wood surrounds the ripe vaguely liqueur-like aromas of various dark berries, spice, violet and lavender. The vibrant and beautifully textured middleweight flavors, indeed it's almost silky thanks to the fine-grained tannins supporting the lingering finish that firms up noticeably. This is an excellent Gevrey villages with good aging potential. Drink 2030+Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-92 Points As readers may remember, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1859 derives from old vines in

Pinot Noir from Vosne-Romanée, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru ‘La Grande Complication’ 2019

"Matured in 300-liter barrels made from oak that Mongeard selects and seasons himself, the 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru La Grande Complication is a special cuvée that derives from vines planted in 1945 with the family's massal selections, located in the lieu-dit of Les Treux. Unwinding in the glass with notes of orange rind, rose petals, exotic spices, cherries and berries, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a concentrated, tightly wound core that shows considerable promise for long-term cel

Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits

David Duband Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru ‘Latricières-Chambertin’ 2019

"An even cooler and more high-toned nose offers up a plethora of red berry scents that include hints of pungent earth, floral wisps and discreet but not invisible wood. There is fine richness to the solidly concentrated flavors that evidence plenty of minerality though the tangy, warm and somewhat woody finish is somewhat awkward today. Note that my projected range assumes that this eventually harmonizes."Allen Meadows, Burghound

Pinot Noir from Vougeot, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Grand Cru ‘Clos de Vougeot’ 2021

Here too there is a hint of herbal tea to the more deeply pitched and earthier aromas. There is almost painful intensity to the sleek medium-bodied flavors that also conclude in a superbly long if decidedly austere finale. This is definitely a dense wine in the context of the 2021 vintage and not surprisingly, one of the more powerful ones as well. Patience strongly advised. Divine Wine!

Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Faiveley Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru 2022

Latricières Chambertin is an incredible site! I had Faiveley's 2015 Latricières Chambertin recently, delicious, perfumed elegant and refined. Along with the 2015, I devoured a brace of 2016's from across the appellations. They are really stepping up their game, the investments in the vineyard and winery are a testament to this. There is enough wood influence to merit pointing out on the airy, cool and layered nose of both red and dark currant, the sauvage and plenty of forest floor char

Domaine Faiveley ‘Mazis Chambertin’ Grand Cru 2022

Mazi is alway a favourite. Hugely long yet impeccably well-balanced! Toasty reduction knocks down the nose but there is fine freshness and richness to the suave and seductively textured bigger-bodied flavors that are generously proportioned while displaying both good tension and complexity on the impressively persistent and more powerful, if less refined, finish where a hint of wood appears. This isn’t quite as mineral-driven but save for a subtle touch of warmth, it’s beautifully balanced a

Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny, Côte-de-Nuits

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny ‘Premier Cru’ 2023

Note: from younger Musigny vines of less than 25 years of age, the youngest of which were planted in 2007; Lupatelli noted that because so few vines are now less than 25 years of age, the surface area is only about .27 ha and situated in Grands Musigny; 5 barrels produced in 2023This is also quite floral in character with its ever-so-slightly riper array of exuberantly spicy blend of both red and dark cherry, exotic tea and a whiff of dried orange peel. Domaine de la Vougeraie Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin ‘Les Mazoyeres’ 2022

This is also markedly floral in character with its cool, airy and equally pure nose of the essence of red berries, forest floor, earth and similar hint of smoked game. The delicious, vibrant and somewhat denser medium-bodied flavors possess a super-sleek yet solidly powerful mouthfeel, all wrapped in a detailed, balanced and beautifully persistent finish. I very much like the fruit-acid-tannin balanced and this is so good that it could well be the finest Charmes of the 2022 vintage. (from a .74

David Duband Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru ‘Chambertin’ 2019

"This too is aromatically very cool with its elegant and airy aromas of violet, red and dark currant and whiffs of humus and the sauvage. There is impressive vibrancy to the caressing yet muscular and intense larger-scaled flavors that exude an abundance of minerality on the serious, compact and focused finale that also flashes just a hint of warmth. Note well that this is very much a 'buy and forget you own it' wine."Allen Meadows, Burghound
