Grenache from Provence, France
$26.50
It’s a crunchy, flawlessly balanced rosé, laden with preserved citrus rind, redcurrant, and rose petal perfume and flavours. There’s a pulpy, generous texture with racy, peppery, herby freshness from whoa to go.

It’s again assembled from Grenache, Cinsault, and the rare Tibouren grape (an indigenous Provençal variety said to bring aromas of garrigue, the herby scrub of southern France). Oh, and a splash of Syrah. The grapes are sourced from organically-managed chalky-clay parcels in the heart of the Côtes de Provence, around the achingly pretty commune of Puget-Ville. Jean Christophe Audéoud looks after the winemaking which uses the traditional direct press method and maturation in both concrete and stainless steel. The wine is made at the 93 year-old Cellier Saint Sidoine in Puget-Ville (roughly half way between Bandol and Saint Tropez).
It finishes dry and super refreshing, with a twist of white pepper and grip as well. Real seduction and pleasure on offer here, but also genuine depth and interest. A wine to remind us why this part of the world is so renowned for rosé.
