Oddero Dolcetto d’Alba 2022

Dolcetto | Piedmont, Barolo

Oddero have balanced the development of their Dolcetto beautifully. An excellent rendition of Dolcetto - complex with crunch and refined tannins. A little darkness, perfume spice and beyond. The texture and work to get through this through puberty is clear. Complete and delicious.I explored the reductive and raw nature of lesser Dolcetto wines with Pietro in our discussion below.

Antoniolo Erbaluce d’Caluso DOC 2022

Erbaluce | Italy, Alto Piemonte

If you've never tried Erbaluce before this is a bloody good place to start!Like Timorasso & Nascetta this is a varietal to watch!Tasting the 2020 it was clear that like Cogno's Nascetta, Antoniolo's Erbaluce benefits from a hear in bottle to settle.Notes on the 20202nd Taste Oct 2022 - Very Good, super racy zippy acid coming together nicely resolved filled out. Looks good fun crisp. Perfect summer drinking. Elevage is there. Spice, the overt traminer, savvy b herbaceous t

So pretty, floral and pleasantly sweet, the 2020 Vino Rosato Bricco Lorella makes itself known with a bouquet of peach skins and pear complemented by hints of wet stone and flowery undergrowth. This soothes with a display of ripe fruits offset by hints of candied citrus, all carried across a wave of juicy acidity. Nothing seems out of place as the Bricco Lorella tapers off wonderfully refreshing but also reverberating with residual acids. This is a gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo Rosato from Gat

Year after year Bouland has turned stunning, beautiful wines! This is the only Cuvée of the 4 we offer from the 2023 vintage I haven't had a chance to taste. Word from those I trust is that it is looking sharp! In 2023 the Morgon wines from the 'Cailloux' / pebble soils appear to have the edge in balance and energy over the sandier 'Sable' sable soils. One of the wineries I buy from each year without hesitation.

Daniel Bouland Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2023
Ridiculous Yields!

Daniel Bouland Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2023

Gamay Noir | Morgon, Beaujolais

Of the two Bellevue Cuvées, the Cailloux has better balance and energy with a touch less alcohol and a touch more acid. Excellent darker, earthier profile than the Chiroubles. Beautifully weighted, plump fruit with a spice layer and just a little playful stalk tannin grip keeping the palate lively and, with that fine line of acid, refreshing. Any excellent rendition and like the other 2023's more immediate approachability than previous vintages. Paul Kaan, WINE DECODED Nov 2024

The Dolcetto grapes we produce come from our own vineyards, where we find soils typical of the Helvetian region (ancient in origin, calcareous-clayey with shades of pale gray and pink. Alternating layers also include siliceous sandstone, calcium carbonate, and iron). The color is intense ruby red with purple highlights. The persistent floral and fruity aromas of sweet violets and small red fruits give it a pleasant immediacy. Its moderate tannins and balanced, elegant structure make it the quint

With fruit sourced from the Contradas of San Lorenzo, Feudo and Calderara Sottana there is some serious pedigree to the vineyards and it shows in the wine! A strong a’Rina from Giuseppe. Earthy, savoury nicely spiced with a little herbal note. Super fine elegant tannins. A little musk and violets over the top. Slate, plum and beyond. A classic example of Etna Rosso. The 2023 Etna Rosso A Rina watts up with a savory protile, mixing woodland berry with nuances of sage, wet concrete and a

Stefano Lubiana Pinot Noir 2019

Superb expression right out of the gate, whilst it will offer much much more with time. Excellent depth and length with layer after layer of flavour. The energy of the fruit is balanced with a darkness, spiced and an intriguing sappy hint. The acidity and tannin marry well offering up a fine long structure.

Castello dei Rampolla Chianti Classico 2021

Red Blend | Tuscany, Chianti Classico

Is it traditional Chianti Classico? No. Is it bloody good? YES!! The 2021 Chianti Classico is an elegant, gracious wine. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, tobacco, cinnamon and dried flowers all take shape in a decidedly delicate, understated wine from Rampolla. A model of elegance and finesse, the 2021 is showing beautifully today. There is perhaps just a touch of VA in the bouquet, but it is not especially evident. The blend is 80% Sangiovese, 16% Merlot and a dollop of Cabernet Sauvig
