The Girolamo Russo 2021 Etna Rosso San Lorenzo is a very exciting wine with so much energy and verve. It opens to lean-bodied concentration with a brilliant ruby shine. The wine shows a long array of wild fruit and tiny berry aromas backed by crushed white pepper and crushed stone. San Lorenzo is one of the most impressive interpretations of Etna. I highly recommend you try and cellar this wine.Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 96+ Points12 ha between 700 and 800m altitude, some 100-y

Domenico Clerico Barolo di Monforte 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

This is an excellent evolution for Clerico. The Barolo di Monforte has wonderful harmony. Very expressive, where historically Monforte shows much firmer, structured tannins.  Demonstrating how the hand of the maker can create a wine that is more approachable upon release. The tannins are exceptional, long, even and fine. Yes, structurally present in a very good way and with the core of fruit to hold them. This will undoubtedly deliver more in the bottle as it resolves and the secondary devel

Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs (2018) NV
Made with Passion!
Deceptively sophisticated, the depth of fruit is beautifully counterpointed with stunning mineral acid & layers of flavour! Larmandier-Bernier was one of the first grower Champagnes to make a mark in Australia. Everyone had been used to hyped up, over marketed crap from big houses. These guys sent a ripple through the market that became a shock wave of yumminess! 100% Chardonnay Longitude is the more elegant of the two in comparison with Latitude. The Longitude base 2018 is a raging success.

Fascinating comparison with the Pavelot Dominode 18. There’s a similarity with the fleshy generous fruit and shape to the fruit. The Tollot Beaut goes for a slightly softer mouthfeel with very silky tannins. Like many 2018’s rich mouth filling fruit is at play, a darkness underlying. I’m going to be fascinated to see the Leroux, Pavelot & Tollot-Beaut Savignys evolve over time. As this opens in the glass the air induces refinement and elegance. Delicious wine that in a blind tasting I'

Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Riesling 2020

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

Great intensity and transparency! Power and grace. Excellent acid and flavour profile. Long, tight, brooding. Waiting to explode. Sophistaction and restraint. Layered and complex with a hint of flint. A very good energy and freshness. Line and length. Youthful and estery at the moment. Will require patience. The 2020er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese offers a superbly spicy, herbal, and refreshing nose of rosemary, vineyard peach, almond cream, white flowers, mint, and cassis. A cooler and airier array is comprised by notes of citrus, quinine and essence of algae. The ultra-sleek and overtly mineral-driven flavors possess cuts-like-a-knife delineation before terminating in a chiseled, linear and moderately austere finale. This is a terrific example of Les Lys, indeed it’s textbook.91-94 points, Drink: 2028+ BurghoundThe 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Les Lys is one of the range's highlights this year, offering up aromas of almonds, white flowers, green apple, cri

“The 2022 Maranges Rouge La Fussières 1er Cru is a blend of several cuvées with different proportions of whole bunches, averaging around 30%. It has more nuance on the nose than the Vieilles Vignes; the stems are neatly incorporated. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry that gets the saliva flowing. With chalky tannins, quite firm structure and a hint of licorice on the finish, this Maranges deserves 3 or 4 years in bottle.” Neal Martin, Vinous 90-92 points JM 89-91

“Blended with 30% whole bunches and from a massal selection made in the nineties, the 2022 Maranges Clos de la Boutière 1er Cru has a complex bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, iris flower and crushed stone aromas. This is very terroir-driven. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins. It is elegant and harmonious, gently unfolding towards the finish with a sustained, slightly peppery aftertaste. A Maranges from the top drawer. Superb.”  Neal Martin, Vinous 92-94 points

Luigi Baudana Barolo Comune di Serralunga 2021

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

The Luigi Baudana 2021 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba shows rich fruit delivered as cooked cherry with background tones of cinnamon, red rose and ferrous earth. Layers of concentrated fruit and a refined texture this is a superb effort full of personality! Very deep color. The is more new oak here to be seen of first impressions that elevate the overall complexity and class of the aromas, it is amply carried by the depth of fruit, wild strawberry, black cherry, blackberry and plum with a brooding background. The 1st Commune di Verduno Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria! This is a hero statement for the 2017 vintage! Well played my friends, well played! The first 100% Verduno Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria and it’s a beauty. Take the Prinsiot, already excellent, add another couple of layers of development, greater depth of tannin and you’re through the first couple of chapters of this book. A lot going on here. Luigi Baudana Barolo Comune di Serralunga 2019

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

This wine is a blend of fruit from Baudana, Cerretta and Costabella. The Luigi Baudana 2019 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba shows the firmness and structure that this village is known for with pretty perfumes of rose, rusty nail, autumnal leaf, licorice and tar. Costabella is an early-ripening site, and fruit is sourced from the youngest vines in Cerretta and Baudana (leaving a selection from the older vines for the single-vineyard wines).Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate 93 Points AG
