A juicy wine for the category with plenty of cassis character, but that doesn’t mean it’s really full-bodied. In fact, at the finish it’s quite a light and austere wine with a lot of herbal and green-leaf tea flavors. Drink or hold.Stuart Piggot

AP: 13 20. The 2019er Marienburg Riesling Spätlese, as it is referred to on the main part of the consumer label and with a golden capsule, was made from fruit picked at 102° Oechsle from a selection of partially (10%) botrytized fruit and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar. It offers a superbly backward nose made of vineyard peach, cassis, elderflower, some almond cream, a hint of apricot, fine spices, and smoke. The wine proves superbly delineated and focused on the co

Very youthful and expressive, with so much mandarin, white peach, nectarine and honeysuckle, this is a beautiful Spätlese, in which the succulent sweetness is beautifully balanced by the lively, lemony acidity. And beneath all this is a mineral core.Stuart Piggot, SucklingAlso available in Magnum!

"“Harvested at about the same time as the Grosses Gewächs (GG) and thus about four weeks after the Kabinett Rieslings, the 2020 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese opens with a pure, fresh and remarkably delicate slate bouquet that is already singing. On the palate, the wine is lush yet filigreed and finessed and provided with delicate, lingering salinity and finely concentrated, perfectly ripe fruit. This gorgeous wine was matured two-thirds in steel and one-third in casks. High

AP: 02 22. The 2021er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett is a fruity-styled wine driven on the nose by some refined and even very elegant residual scents from its spontaneous fermentation which gradually give way to stunning elements mixing whipped almond cream, vineyard peach, orange blossom, minty herbs, jasmine, and acacia. The wine shows great presence and intensity on the palate yet remains incredibly light and refined. The finish shows all the minerality and stony side of the wine, and

Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett 2021

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

AP: 03 22. The 2021er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett AP 03 is a fruity-styled wine with a still quite restrained and smoky nose at first? It takes a while to reveal its complexity and finesse underlined by fine notes of stone fruit, lead pencil, herbs, bergamot, blackberry, cherry, violet, and lavender. The wine is still very tight on the palate but already hints at the greatness to come as there is great density and purity. The finish is still somewhat sharp yet its incredibly multi-layer

Selbach Oster Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese* 2019

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

"The 2019er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese * was made from fruit harvested at 100° Oechsle and fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (81 g/l). It exhibits some smoky, minty, and ripe scents of pear, quince, almond cream, lavender, pineapple, and smoke on the nose. The wine reveals a more exotic and animating side on the delicate and subtly smooth palate, and leaves one with a feeling of presence and intensity, but all focused and chiseled in the long finish. 2026-2039."Jea

AP 16.20 The 2019er Hofberg Spätlese, as it is referred to on the consumer label, was harvested at 93° Oechsle from vines planted in 1953 on the main hill of the vineyard, and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar. It proves quite backward and reductive at first, but only gradually reveals its rich and juicy nose of yellow peach, spices, golden apple, honeyed pear, and a hint of camphor. Plenty of honeyed and juicy yellow fruits give the wine some Auslese allure on the sweet pal

"AP: 10 19. The 2018er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 10 was harvested at just above 90° Oechsle and was fermented down to fully fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. This offers telltale aromatics including pear, quince, greengage, laurel and caraway. The wine is packed with fruits, spices and herbs and yet remains incredibly filigreed right into the spicy finish. This is a superb effort and a great Spätlese with real Spätlese character. 2028-2048"Mosel Fine Wines

Julian Haart Mosel Riesling 2020

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

Made primarily from Goldtröpchen fruit, with some grapes sourced from two more elevated vineyards, delicate playful fun dry Rizza, juicy with zippy acid. Hints of musk earthiness and a couple of savoury pops. This is very clever stuff. Nicely developed for an entry level wine it’s excellent. When you drink concentrate on the mouthfeel, the shape of the wine as it flows across your palate and clean finish.

A.J.Adam Dhroner Hofberg Spätlese Riesling 2017

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

AP 12.18  The 2017er Dhroner Hofberg Spätlese was harvested at 92° Oechsle in a prime parcel planted in the 1950s. It delivers a beautiful nose of whipped cream, vineyard peach, smoke, almond, earl grey and yellow plum. The wine offers great, almost concentrated presence on the mid-palate, yet a juicy and racy kick of acidity adds layers upon layers of freshness and intensity to the finish. This is a great success! 2027-2047Jean Fisch & David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines 94 Points
