Dreams do come TRUE! My 300 bottle Wine Cellar is done! Awesome!

For years I’ve been wanting to have my own cellar to store all my #FilthyGoodVino.  Finally it’s done. A cellar that will store 300 bottles of the finest wines from the collection that are ready to drink. Material and Specifcations included!

For years I’ve been wanting to have my own cellar to store all my #FilthyGoodVino.  Finally, it’s done. A cellar that will store 300 bottles of the finest wines from the collection that are ready to drink.

It all began a couple of months ago when I hacked through the plaster into a void below a stairwell.  Turns out the builder had planned to make use of the space and had already lined ready for use.  For some reason at the last minute he just plastered it up.

Get ready to be jealous – My other 2,100 bottles are stored in an underground cellar, in the perfect environment for gentle maturation.

Technical Details for those wanting to build their own!

  • Use 100mm x 100mm reo sheets. They’ll hold claret and bugrundy bottles, half bottles, all but the widest bottles eg Dom Perignon / Bollinger. You can get them from steel sellers in big sheets to suit your needs. Cut them to size with an angle grinder.
  • Each square meter of wall space will hold 100 bottles.
  • Set the front sheet of reo for the rack 25mm higher than the back sheet.
  • Set the back sheet 55mm (center of the horizontal bar)  from the wall.
  • Set the frunt sheet 235mm  (center of the horizontal bar) from the wall = 180mm from the back sheet.
  • You’ll need to tie the sheets together. We welded them using metal rod onto right angled brackets to tie them into the wall.
