Ripasso refers to a winemaking technique used for red wine production in Valpolicella. A Valpolicella Ripasso DOC is a medium-bodied wine with good alcohol content. It is obtained by the refermentation of the basic Valpolicella on the pomace of the “Amarone della Valpolicella” and/or “Recioto della Valpolicella” wines (“Ripasso” means “re-pass”). Thanks to this process, the wine is characterized by higher alcohol content, higher values of the phenolic substances and extracts than a basic Valpolicella.

Giacomo Conterno Barolo ‘Francia’ 2020

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

The 2020 Barolo Francia is a soaring, classically austere wine built for the cellar. Medium in body and driving, with tons of mineral intensity, the 2020 is an evocative wine that makes me think about the future. This is what young Barolo should be - vibrant and stern, but with the purity of fruit that is typical here. The 2020 is so wonderfully alive.Antonio Galli, Vinous 98 Points

Henriques & Henriques 10 Year Old Medium Sweet Boal 500ml
Medium Sweet
The  10-Year-Old Boal is an excellent example of the complex flavour profile that result from the madeirisation process, combining rich, sweet fruit with savoury, often funky, characters. The nose blossoms in the glass with notes of opulent dried fruit, toffee and brown sugar notes along with hints of char and mineral rancio character. The palate is smooth in texture with a nice zing of acidity. Flavours of candied citrus, caramel and sweet spice balance with intriguing savoury character, culmi

A fresher mix is comprised by notes of both red and black cherry, dark raspberry, earth and a violet top note. There is fine volume and intensity to the bigger-bodied flavors that flash good minerality on the firm, powerful and focused finale. This could use better depth, but more should develop in time. 2030+ (from Rugiens Haut).Allen Meadows, Burghound

A discreet but not invisible hint of volatile acidity adds lift to the well-layered nose of black cherry, violet, lavender and subtle earth and spice hints. The muscular and energetic broad-shouldered flavors offer excellent punch and depth on the driving and firmly structured finish. Assuming that the VA remains at its current level, it shouldn't be more than a background element.Allen Meadows, Burghound
