Feeling Thirsty?

A more deeply pitched nose combines notes of poached plum and exotic tea with those of violet, lilac and a suggestion of wood. The richer and more voluminous flavors possess more evident power if not the same refinement on the more structured finale. This is also nicely balanced but in contrast to the Groseilles, it’s not likely to drink especially well before 8 to 10 years have passed. The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, licorice, rose petals, spices and forest floor. Medium to fullbodied, ample and satiny, it’s seamless and complete, with beautifully refined tannins, racy acids and a long, saline finish. Drink 2025-2050 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 94 Points

Valentini Trebbiano d’Abruzzo 2020

Trebbiano | Italy, Abruzzo

More savory than sweet, the 2020 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo slowly opens with a rich blend of raw almonds and smoky crushed stone, giving way to dried nectarines and hints of sage. This seductress is ripe and succulent upon entry, yet with a salty, sultry core of minerality, blending sour lime with apricots and liquid stone. The 2020 ends with a lemony concentration and herbal thrust, tapering off saline and lightly structured yet incredibly fresh. The 2020 is simply spellbinding.Eric Guido, Vinous

Thrilled to be able to offer my thoughts on this special wine. Lunch with the full current release set from La Rioja Alta was thrilling. The wines are a demonstration of respect for the past and judicious use of modern technology combined with an approach that offer a style reminiscent of a refreshed classic. No fads here!Exceptional depth and length, wonderful core of vibrant red fruit flowing through with great persistence. Building the secondary proportion of flavours to fruit over the A
