Ansitz Waldgries Südtiroler Weissburgunder Riserva ‘ITOS’ 2020

Weissburgunder | Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

What he achieves by a combo of half vinified in stainless steel and half the ferments in barrel, is the ideal melding of the racy with the complex and textured.A pretty flash Weissburgunder AKA Pinot Bianco! Excellent drinking. A layer of that shroomy, wet wool earthy funk I often see, and enjoy in high acid whites. White flowers perfume. Ripe white grapefruit. Counterpointed with a little stonefruit, fresh and zippy. Chalky acid with a dusting of phenolics adds cleansing grip. Superb long

Where the Bourgogne is immediately approachable the village Chassagne Blanc needs a little more time. 1/3 from Les Masures next to Morgeot 2/3 Puligny side of Chassagne. Again this shows a wonderful progression through the quality standards in Burgundy. Jumping a rung in the ladder, the energy and precision is showing here. Whilst a full percentage lower in alcohol than the Bourgogne, it has greater depth and length. Current tightly wound, beautiful linear acid is supported nicely by a little te

With its decidedly green and spicy bouquet, the 2022 Pecorino is impossible to ignore. Lime zest and tropical melon give way to crushed Granny Smith apples and chamomile aromas. This is beautifully balanced, fruit-centric and intense. Silken waves of citrus-infused orchard fruits cascade beneath an air of sweet inner florals. The 2022 leaves the palate completely refreshed, tapering off long and youthfully tense, with a hint of salinity that adds lovely punctuation. Fantastic. Drink 2024-202

The Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune red and white come from the domaine’s young agroforestry project in Nantoux. Perched at 400 metres above Pommard, Nantoux is a strikingly pretty village known for its pink limestone quarries and hiking trails between vineyards, woods and meadows. The Dancers have planted two hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and interspersed all kinds of local trees on a limestone plateau. Although not the sole reason for investing in the area, it was hoped these vin

The 2022 was MIND BOGGLING! Only 6 bottles up for grabs! The 2023 A Graña comes from a vineyard in the parish of Adina, and it has a different personality, not only because of its lower alcohol level (11.7%), contained ripeness and higher acidity but because it fermented and matured in a chestnut barrel (and 200 liters in stainless steel), kept with lees for nine months. Château Pierre-Bise Savennières ‘Roche aux Moines’ 2020

Chenin Blanc | Savennières, D'Anjou-Saumur

Wine of personality keep on coming from Savennieres. Lythe, transparent fruit. Dry with pear, baking spice and candied citrus peel. Somehow they have managed to combine a weightless feel with the depth of fruit,a little phenolics and glycerol making for a luscious caress of the tongue. A fine wine that as with all dry Chenin will need a couple of years to start expressing itself in full. I can see why the 2018 managed to score 1 of just 50 wines in show out of almost 19,000 at Decanters 2021 Awa
