Sandro Fay Valgella Valtellina Superiore Riserva Carteria 2016
Pinot-esque!!
Grace under pressure. The purity, line & length, and, expression of this wine is exceptional. Where the 2016 Costa Bassa drinks so beautifully out of the gate. 2016 Carteria steps up the depth, length and layering, this will be superb. Brooding and a little darker than the Costa Bassa, it's not just depth of flavour, but depth of tannin that shine. A little patience will yiled a treasure! The textures, harmony and pleasure Sandro Fay are dishing up is exceptional. This will undoubtedly hit the

Domaine SC Guillard Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 'Réniard' 2020
Old vine depth & persistence
Hallmark Guillard length, depth, energy and juicy natural acid. A bolder incarnation than the highly perfumed 2019. Still very much brooding, demanding time. Everything is in it's place. As usual the tannin quality and mouthfeel are superb. Patience! This will be stunning in 15+ years needing at least 5 to starting showing its full potential.Deep crimson deep purple tints, very deep color. The nose is layered with berry fruit, raspberry, wild strawberry, again cassis enters the fray with

Domaine Racine Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2019

Pinot Noir | Santa Rita Hills, America

The 2019 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is an attractive, ethereal wine. Sweet dried cherry, mint, tobacco and sage are some of the aromas and flavors that open in the glass. I would give this a few years in bottle to soften. This is an especially savory style of Pinot with plenty of aromatic presence, and the fruit pushed into the background. The Sta. Rita Hills cuvée is a blend of fruit from Domaine de la Côte and La Encantada.Antonio Galloni, Vinous 90 Points

Giuseppe Cortese Langhe Nebbiolo MAGNUM 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

A Langhe Nebb made from young vine Rabajà .. Yes it's true! Always a fun wine. Elegant and juicy fruited, with solid core of fruit wrapped in chewy tannins. It’s a playful Langhe. Typically perfumed with a savoury twang, a little orange. Loads of fun to be had here. Always better after an extra year in bottle & a good decant. Will reward 2-5 years patience.Even his Langhe Neb is young vine Rabajà!

Albino Rocca ‘Montersino’ Barbaresco 2021

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

A complex, dynamic wine, the 2021 Barbaresco Montersino is redolent of sweet dried cherry, incense, blood orange, cinnamon, sage and mint. It offers striking translucence and mid-weight structure to round out a super-classic profile. Bright acids extend the clean, precise finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. Vietti Castiglione Barolo 2017

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

Show the class of the vineyards and the winemakers! The 2017 Barolo Castiglione is a wild, exotic wine. Super-ripe red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, tobacco, new leather and rose petal all flesh out in this ample, voluptuous Barolo from Vietti. The 2017 is a wine of significant heft hidden behind a wall of tannin. Give it a few years to soften or open it well in advance. Time brings out striking translucence as well as finesse. Drink 2025-2037. GalloniLuca and Elana are consistently showing the

Barale Barbaresco ‘Serraboella’ 2021

Nebbiolo | Neive, Barbaresco

Super vibrant and energetic with long even fruit of class and a little perfume Feels like a little more precision here in the 2021. Savoury with a lick of blood. Classy fruit an excellent wine. Refined tannins. Opens and settles beautifully in the glass. Very, very good.Tasted from cask, Barale's 2021 Barbaresco Serraboella is bold, juicy and quite expressive. I imagine more nuance will develop in time. At this early stage, the 2021 possesses notable depth and plenty of textural intensit

Notes of oak toast and menthol surround the moderately high-toned aromas of red and dark cherry, plum and warm earth. There is terrific intensity to the vibrant, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors that also brim with minerality on the even more compact, austere and firmly constituted finale. The quality is excellent though I underscore that this is presently a block of stone and it would be largely pointless to open a bottle before at least 7 to 8 years have passed. Dinrk: 2034+ ♥

Dureuil’s village Rully is drawn from three organically managed plots—Le Meix Cadot, Rosey and Montagne de Remenot—which cover just under three hectares in total. The average age of these vines is now 50 years. Janthial uses a Jayer-esque pre-ferment cold soak to extract the prettiest aromas and softer tannin. Touchstone Rully.

Discreet wood influence surrounds the ripe aromas of just turned earth and poached plum. The supple, delicious and pliant medium weight flavors are not particularly dense but they still manage to be seductive, which contrasts noticeably with the frankly rustic if lingering finish. This should also repay short to mid-term keeping. Drink 2027+Allen Meadows, Burghound 88 Points

Cascina Luisin Barabaresco ‘Asili’ 2016

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

The fruit for this wine comes from the mostly south-facing aspect of the Asili cru, with an average vine age of 55 years. The winemaking is similar to the other Barbarescos. This is perhaps the most compelling of the Luisin Barbarescos, with a textbook Nebbiolo red colour and an intriguing bouquet of so many elements that all come together in harmony. Classic varietal characters of liquorice root, rose petal and anise, alongside brighter fruit aromas of pomegranate, cherry and raspberry, with
