Stefano Lubiana Pinot Noir 2019
Incredibly Elegant!

Stefano Lubiana Pinot Noir 2019

Pinot Noir | Tasmania, Australia

Superb expression right out of the gate, whilst it will offer much much more with time. Excellent depth and length with layer after layer of flavour. The energy of the fruit is balanced with a darkness, spiced and an intriguing sappy hint. The acidity and tannin marry well offering up a fine long structure.

Domaine Bernard Defaix Chablis 2022

Chardonnay | France, Burgundy

This is very good. Defaix has given us a restrained, detailed expression of Chablis. Mineral with juicy fruit, citrus, and most importantly loads of personality. The fruit drive is impressive, balanced by lightning energy and zippy acid. The mouthfeel is superb, long and refined with great length. A build in depth and length a little more fine saline acid keeping it fresh and mouthwatering.Cleverly built up layer after layer with fruit savoury pops élévage that sees it resolved, together

Nebbiolo makes fantastic fresh Rosé Great to see the development on this. Nicely weighted and flowing, red fruits with some of the green / woody herb + spice. This is delicious, dry fine juice with a mouthwatering acid structure. Strong.Airy and fresh yet complex as well, the 2022 Il Rosato impresses with its lifting notes of rose, crushed stone, peach skins and lemon oil. Refined yet juicy and fruit-forward, this casts lime-tinged apple and green melon easily across the palate, energi

Albero is the result of a single annual saca (the castellano verb sacar is to take out or withdraw) of unfiltered or en rama Manzanilla, from the solera system of barrels, or soleraje which generates Barbiana Manzanilla. Barbiana is an Andalucian market brand (typically not exported) owned by Delgado Zuleta, and hence the little sister of the renowned La Goya Manzanilla. La Goya has seven clases, or different age levels within its soleraje. Barbiana is a little younger and has four clases (if we

Finally got my laughing gear around this (Aug 2024). Classic structured Monforte! A day of air brings out the perfume and harmonises and softens the tannins. A classic tar and roses profile lifts from the glass with sour cherry and blood playing around red and blue fruits with baking spice and a cleansing sappiness. The elegance and transparency of the fruit profile is dominated by some serious tannin of very high quality so typical of Monforte. It will take time to resolve full, when it does th

The 2022 Pétalos was produced with 85% Mencía, 10% white grapes and 5% other reds from over 90 hectares, 20% owned by them and the rest from 180 families. It fermented with some full clusters in oak and stainless steel vats and matured in barrels of different sizes for 10 months. It's clearly more Mediterranean, with notes of rockrose and other aromatic herbs, juicy and round, more fruit-driven, aromatic, velvety and very pleasant and easy to drink. It has 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.54.L

Looking good! Fresh, style with a nice phenolic grip and cleansing astringency with crunchy mineral acid. Spiced pear and quince with citrus rind and fresh marmalade are balanced by silvery almond lining. Building generosity in the glass.Give this a year in bottle to settle a little and drink over 5 years.

Willi Schaefer Graacher Feinherb Riesling 2019
92 MFW

Willi Schaefer Graacher Feinherb Riesling 2019

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

From Himmelreich. After some air, delicate notes of green apple, grapefruit, lime and white peach kick in and add to the overall feel of freshness and tightness. Superbly balanced on the palate, where some creamy and lightly fruity elements are superbly wrapped into zest and spices. It leaves a dry-tasting rather than fully off-dry feel in the magnificently long, pure and vibrating finish. This great example of a light-footed, just off-dry wine has depth and concentration. This great success

A.J.Adam Dhroner Häs’chen Kabinett Riesling 2017

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

A fascinating comparison to the Hofberg. An edge of reduction a la Prüm's Graacher Kabinett on openning. A little more richness comes across here by comparision with the Hofberg. The balance and vinosity making for a complete wine loaded with personality. The MFW guys have nailed it. Chuck it in a decanter to get it moving!AP 11.18  The 2017er Dhroner Häs’chen Kabinett was harvested at 85° Oechsle. Still marked by residues of spontaneous fermentation at first, it delivers a gorgeou

Château Doisy-Daëne Barsac 375ml 2015

Semillon | France, Barsac

Always one of my favourite sweet Bordeaux makers! I've always had a soft spot for Doisy-Daëne. The defining difference, beautiful balance.40% Sauvignon Blanc, 60% Semillon from 50+ year old vines."The 2015 Doisy-Daene has a detailed bouquet, very correct, nothing showy or flamboyant as is typical of Denis Dubourdieu's Barsac. The palate is extremely well balanced and very pure: citrus fruit infusing the honeyed botrytis, veins of white peach and quince, leading to a very precise and

Willi Schaefer Graacher Feinherb Riesling 2021

Willi Schaefer Graacher Feinherb Riesling 2021

Riesling | Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany

AP: 07 22. The 2021er Graacher Riesling Feinherb is an off-dry wine made from fruit harvested mainly in the Himmelreich. It offers a beautifully fresh and minty nose of wet sone, stone fruit, lozenge, white peach, lime, and lime tree. The wine has great energy and presence on the palate, while the wine maintains a great sense of airiness and lightness. The finish is beautifully long and focused and leaves an already dry and sharp taste of spices and fine herbs. This is a truly remarkable dry-tas
