Domaine SC Guillard Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 'Réniard' 2021
Old vine depth & persistence
Lovely limpid color bright. Nose detailed cool fruits red fruit focused hint of rose petal and a lick of new oak. Palate is tight and super fresh and intense but also has an airy lightness to it. Tannins are slightly sinewy and grippy to close but the elevated fruit and texture carry long.Pure and focused Drink 2023-2038Tom Carson

Jean-Paul et Benôit Droin Chablis 2022

Chardonnay | Chablis, Burgundy

Smoky aromas of shellfish and Granny Smith apples gives way to more voluminous flavors that enjoy better acid support on the balanced and sneaky long finish. This isn't exactly classic in style but it's close and is a wine that offers fine quality for its level. Allen Meadows, Burghound 89-91 Points

Year after year Bouland has turned stunning, beautiful wines! This is the only Cuvée of the 4 we offer from the 2023 vintage I haven't had a chance to taste. Word from those I trust is that it is looking sharp! One of the wineries I buy from each year without hesitation.

Earthy, savoury, delicate spice, sitting beautifully with darker fruits and more apparent stalk tannin. The acid, tannin, alcohol complex working beautifully. A ripping edition of this perennial favourite. As with the other Cuvées it's more immediate approachability than previous vintages. I typically find Bouland's wines need at least 18 months to 2 year to resolve and for their tension to relax following bottling. This will undoubtedly offer more with time in bottle.

Daniel Bouland Morgon Bellevue Cailloux MAGNUM 2023
Ridiculous Yields!
Of the two Bellevue Cuvées, the Cailloux has better balance and energy with a touch less alcohol and a touch more acid. Excellent darker, earthier profile than the Chiroubles. Beautifully weighted, plump fruit with a spice layer and just a little playful stalk tannin grip keeping the palate lively and, with that fine line of acid, refreshing. Any excellent rendition and like the other 2023's more immediate approachability than previous vintages. I typically find Bouland's wines need at least 18

Located in the lieu-dit of En Creuzilly at a height of 420 metres with ‘more clay’. A very fresh wine with less ‘fat’ that wants time to show its best. Ample depth covering a very fine structure.Vines in the direction of Nolay, bought in 2014 – 2015 was the first vintage – from an 8 ha domaine shared with Sauzet – about 6km from domaine, vines on hillsides, over 400m with plenty of clay in this soil. Jean-Paul et Benôit Droin Chablis 2023

Chardonnay | Chablis, Burgundy

Aromas of apples, peach, toasted nuts and iodine introduce the 2023 Chablis Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave wine that's round and seamless, concluding with a sapid finish.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate 90 PointsMineral reduction and citrus dominate the more complex and slightly freshy nose at present. There is equally good freshness and energy to the delicious, rich and sappy medium weight flavors that possess better depth and persistence on the balanced finale.

The 2023 Altenburg Wachenheim P.C. is precise and savory on the elegant and classical, slightly flinty and coolish, very stimulating nose. Full-bodied, intense and fleshy on the palate, this is a mouth-filling Riesling with less energy than textural qualities that are framed by serious tannins and ripe lemon bitters on the finish. This is a Riesling for richer dishes that could also be paired with a red wine. 13.5% stated alcohol. Diam 30 cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025. Drink 2025-2

Luigi Pira Barolo del Commune di Serralunga 2020

Nebbiolo | Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo

I recall being impressed by Pira's 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo a couple of years on and the Barolo 'Commune di Serralunga' is impressing too! Openning in the glass with vibrant red fruits, tea, a little earthiness, slate, licorice and more. The layered density of the fruit with zippy acid has you salivating for more. The tannins are composed and front, mid-palate dominant, that slate comes through here to. Tight at the moment with 3-5 years it should fall into place, the juicy acid marry into the wine

Giovanni Canonica Langhe Nebbiolo 2022

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barolo

The hot tip for the Langhe Nebbiolo give it a year or two in bottle before you crack into it. It will be tightly wound when young and take that time to reveal itself. Looking forward to trying Canonica's.
