The hallmark citrus aromas of a fine Côte de Léchet are present on the nose of quinine, oyster shell and poached apple scents. There is fine volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that flash ample minerality on the saline, youthfully austere and focused finale. Lovely.Burghound ♥ Outstanding 90-93 Points🔥 HOT TIP - Drink it at 12-14ºC or even a bit warmer to get the most from it.

Stepping up in complexity and layering. A perfume and florals float out of the glass clearly more depth here yet with transparency and clarity that sees a unified personality, harmonious and delicious. Riper flavours than the village Chablis a little more power. Low perceived acidity, still plenty. Those hallmark Defaix savoury, creamy characters at play.“Five star wine. Mid lemon colour, the bouquet has fineness here. Wonderful vibrations, mostly white fruit, a sensation of white peb

Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco 2020

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

Such a comforting wine, easy, flowing, grape first with salty blood and blood orange around vibrant fruit. Well made and composed. Fruit and tannins weighted nicely. Approachable now but will undoubtedly offer much more with a few years in bottle. For the coin this sits in a great spot!Paul Kaan, Wine Decoded Sept 2024The Giuseppe Cortese 2020 Barbaresco delivers aromas of crushed rose, redcurrant, licorice and camphor ash. The mouthfeel is lean and polished, and this classic Ba

Too steep for animals here and slippery too – so everything done by hand. A wide nose, half mineral and saline. Bigger – full, framed with fresh, melting acidity, insinuating delicious flavour. Very long – that’s another great 2018! Bill Nanson

Sitting between the Vaillons and Mont de Milieu in terms of richness and minerality Delicacy, laced and fine, perfumed, elegant and long, a little primary would be interesting to see what a little time in old wood would do for this. The salinity is back in force. Tighter it will need bottle age to show it’s best. The phenolics / acid complex will take time. Everything is there waiting to come together and give a little patience you will be in a very happy place.

Fontodi Chiant Classico 2019

Sangiovese | Tuscany, Chianti Classico

The thirst-quenching nature combined with great intensity and personality draws you in!  More elegance than 18 looking good. Refined fun. With lovely red fruits, earthy, savoury with a little herbal pop. Pretty bloody serious Sangiovese for the coin. A very clever layer of oak in this. Complex with fine tannins with a slight build to mid-palate that’s going to work beautifully with loads of food. This should be very interesting with 5-10 years of age on it.

“parcels in Lignorelles – vines planted by grandfather – 50-60-year-old vines. 40% barrel – a mix of sizes but nothing new, indeed about 5-year-old barrels An extra width that’s filled with extra freshness – that’s a great nose. Direct, structured, still with purity and energy and faintly austere too – overtly great villages – what a wine – bravo!”Bill Nanson“Pale lemon, with a beautifully perfumed nose, ripe but stopping short of honeysuckle. La Ca’ Növa Barbaresco 2019

Nebbiolo | Piedmont, Barbaresco

Excellent bright fruit, fine dusty tannins, long with a beautiful flavour profile, poised and delicious. Thirst-quenching drink. Red fruits, with a little, orange citrus, slight savoury note. Great balance here. A joy. Tasted 30 May 2022.La Ca' Növa 2019 Barbaresco will tempt readers with its effusive aromatics and compelling Nebbiolo fruit, but a few years in bottle are advisable to help the tannins soft. The first time we've had Sandro Fay's wine from the Sassella sub-zone of Valtellina and it's a ripper. A step up from the Valgella appropriately reflected in the price difference. Longer and with more mid-palate depth it shows excellent flow and shape. The pure, fine acid and long sophisticated tannins make for an equally refreshing drop. Darker sour cherry fruit laced with slate, spice and lick of that alpine thing doing on. Great transparency. Loads of joy to be had with this pleasure festa!

Weingut Nikolaihof Gutswein Riesling 2017

Riesling | Wachau, Austria

"The 2017 Riesling Gutswein was harvested late with some botrytis and stopped at 12g/L of residual sweetness. Juicy apricot and peach beckon on the nose, promising fruity generosity that the palate promptly delivers - smooth and off-dry. Herbal lift adds dimension, while concentration and ripeness fill the mouth. Fine concentration, acidity and a pithy sense of phenolics and citrus are beautifully set against that slight sweetness, making this an alluring proposition. Off dry."Anne Krebiehl
