The Laffay’s own 26 ares in the Grand Cru Vaudésir. We were offered a tiny allocation of this; none of their Bourgros as they could not make any in 2019. Vaudésir is one of the seven Chablis Grand Cru appellations. Nestled in a natural amphitheater, it covers 15.4 hectares. It benefits from a double exposure similar to that of Valmur. The south-facing slope, which lies in a small sheltered valley, provides optimal ripening conditions. The north-facing slope, however, is cooler and the grapes

With a geological structure similar to the Grands Crus and excellent exposure, this terroir is considered one of the best Premiers Crus. The wine is both full and rich yet can also show its mineral and floral characteristics. The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is a terrific success, unfurling in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, confit citrus and oatmeal. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and complete, it’s fleshy and seamless, with fine depth at the cor

Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin La Princée 2021

Chardonnay | Saint-Aubin, Burgundy

La Princée is a blend of 10 small village parcels from across just under three hectares. One-third of these vines are now over 60 years old, and the remainder were planted in 1985 and 2000. All the parcels are in the cooler, east-facing Saint-Aubin combe (valley), on chalky/mineral soils. It is therefore no surprise that this is a racy white Burgundy with great energy and a limestone-rich personality.“Aromas of white flowers, lemon oil and toasted nuts introduce the 2021 Saint-Aubin L

The domaine holds two priceless hectares in Valmur, which makes it (we’re guessing) one of the largest holders of this Grand Cru, which sits between Grenouilles and Les Clos. With the 1934 plantings in La Pièce au Comte now replanted, Valmur houses the domaine’s oldest vines, planted in 1947, along with some vines planted between 1962 and 1974 and another parcel between 1995 and 2000. Just as significant is the exposure: Bessin’s parcel lies on the southern side of the Grand Cru, in

The 2023 Gaisböhl G.C. opens with a deep, clear, fresh and almost earthy nose with wet clay and stone aromas. Full-bodied, round and savory on the palate, this is a generous, precise, saline and crunchy, finely tannic and powerful Riesling with a long, intense and forceful yet still refined and elegant finish. Impressive wine. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam 30 cork. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025. Drink 2030-2060Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate 96 PointsSP 97

With its terroir split into two parts on either side of the Sainte Vaubourg fountain path, it has slightly deeper clay-limestone soils than the other Grands Crus. Its shape is reminiscent of a small valley hence the name “Valmur”.Unwinding in the glass with aromas of peach, lemon oil, freshly baked bread, oyster shell and struck match, Fèvre’s 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is full-bodied, concentrated and incisive, with a racy, electric profile and a searingly saline, intensely

Les Preuses is probably taken from the word “Perreuse” (stone), the name given to the ancient Roman road which ran below the current vineyard. Made for ageing thanks to a dense, compact, clay-rich soil resting on a limestone bed.The 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses is, if anything, even more electric than the formidable Valmur, wafting from the glass with notions of citrus oil, freshly baked bread, oyster jus and wet stones. Full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it’s racy and intense

“Clear pale lemon. The nose does not really speak at this stage. The volume of fruit is present, but perhaps not quite the nobility. Perhaps this is just very backward, with saline and citrus notes, with clearly some concentration on the palate.” Jasper Morris 92-94 Points

Bougros sits on a very steep slope, with a gradient of more than 30%, facing due south at the foot of the hill. The shallow soil, a mixture of clay and gravel, prevents excessive yields resulting in complex, robust wines.Note: from a 2.2 ha parcel at the bottom section of the vineyard; even so, the vineyard is so steep here that it must be worked entirely by hand as tractors would be dangerous to use.In a sense, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots offers a resumé of

Pierre Péters Blanc de Blanc Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru MAGNUM NV
Insane flavour!
There's a purity & intensity about this wine that combined with the juicy acid is so so satisfying! The Côte des Blancs is home to all the great Chardonnay vineyards in Champagne. The Grand Cru vineyards are the best of these. When I worked at Legras et Haas, the Grand Cru Chardonnay was exceptional. I was blown away just tasting the juice. The quality of this wine reminds me of that oh so delicious juice!Péters' flagship Champagne is a blend of 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay spanning more than
